Re: something to make me happy
Dirty Secret is pretty good in front of clean amps.
Never touched a Pork but they sure got a lot of electronic wizardry stuffed inside there!

Re: something to make me happy
Check out the Damage Control Liquid Blues. It makes me very happy! I believe there are some demos of it on youtube. It is dual tubes (12AX7) and rips.

Re: something to make me happy
i love both pedals you're talking about -- i've been on the hunt for OD pedals in the same vein. OD needs some fuzz as far as i'm concerned. here are a few i've been gassing about that you might want to check out. unfortunately, they're all insanely difficult to find at the moment.
skreddy screwdriver: Skreddy Pedals Screw Driver skreddy top fuel: Skreddy Pedals Top Fuel big tone music brewery six of swords: Page Title throbak overdrive boost: Throbak Electronics: Overdrive Boost (Colorsound Overdriver Clone)

Re: something to make me happy
sorry. if it helps, santa and the easter bunny are real.
as a nice person who seems objective, if you had to buy either a DLS or pork loin tomorrow, which would you go for?

Re: something to make me happy
they sound like different pedals to me. the DLS sounds more like a straight OD with less fuzz. the pork loin sounds way fatter, and closer to a straight fuzz than an OD. pork loin does sound killer tho. i like the blend function on it, which i imagine would help cutting through playing live. still, not a huge fan of the clean sound on it, which is why i think i'd personally go for the catalinbread. it seems like a more versatile pedal. i like the bite of the overdrive, and that fuzzy bottom on it just takes everything over the top for me. let me add, both would make ME happy!

They're pretty much a "set and forget" fearture. Get the pedal, tweak with the insides for a little bit until you have what you like and use the knobs on the outside for the rest. The Pork Loin gets my vote in all the pedals mentioned so far, but if I may be so bold to suggest another one: the T-Rex Møller. The mix knob also contributes to the open character of the Møller, it's like having a pedal in a parallel effects loop. With the mix from 0 to 5, your clean signal is always on and you dial in the amount overdriven sound until it's 50-50%. From 5 to 10, you dial out the amount of clean sound untill it's all overdrive. Even with the mix on 10, it's still one of the most open and natural sounding pedals around these days.

Re: something to make me happy
by the way, does anyone know how the pork loin cleans up when you lower your volume?

Re: something to make me happy
Say Snare, the local shop here got a porker in yesterday. If you want, I could take it home, test it thoroughly and post some pictures of the knobs and give a bit of a review.

It took a bit longer, but I think you'll find my review worth the wait:
