red fasel vs. yellow fasel...

Hey.
Has anyone replace the inductor on the cry baby's fromthe standard to one of these?
I was wondering what was the difference between them.
I've read that the red one more vocal and the yellow one is closer to vintage 67 wahs.

Ditto on what bling said. Skip the yellow and get yourself a Whipple inductor and up the resister running in parallel with it to between 68k to 100k. FAT wah sounds.

Another trick, and what I did to my current Vox, was put the Whipple on the board and then added another Whipple on a switch to work in parallel with the one on the board if I want some serious wah tone.

Hmm.. could technically put a switch to go between differen inductors...

Oh well.. as long as it "wahs".. good enough for now.

Oh it will.

If you want a real dramatic wah response without the hassles of adding a switch and two inductors, go with a 100k 1% resister in parallel with the inductor.

Yes, I'm a wah nerd...big deal...wanna fight about it

Contact him on his myspace page here...
Whipple Inductors

or do a quick search on Ebay for Whipple Wah Inductor.

And yes...it will fight right into the PCB, you just have to adjust it so the 'hot'

Nevermind about the 'bending the legs' bit...I just re-read the OP. Crybabys have four holes and this will drop right into the PCB after you remove the old soldier from those points.

I'd just stick with what you got. The hotpotz are not bad at all. I've never changed from the Hotpotz in anything I've modded unless it was specifically needed or requested.

They are only about $25 shipped. He even hooks you up with several different resisters to toy with. Very fast two.

since you have a Crybaby...I'd look at replacing the trannys too. They induce a bit of noise in the circuit, making it muddy.

Which version Crybaby do you have?

Re: red fasel vs. yellow fasel...

I have GCB 95 vers. E. I've done some mods to it. I change the 33k to 47k (vocal mod) also did the mid boost and cap sweep mod and of course true bypass (No LED) and took out the buffer componets. I did the gain mod too but it really pushed the mids too much so I changed the 270 ohm back to 470ohm. My wah sounds alot better then before but I heard alot about the fasel mods and now the whipple. I'm diffinitely into the whipple mod. I'm going to contact micheal (?) at my space for it.

well, since you already modded it up, the Whipple is the last thing besides the trannys. Let us know how it works out!
