Pedal newbie question: decent, affordable delay pedal reco?

I'm on the hunt for a decent yet affordable delay pedal. I'm a bit skint, but I'm also not out to get something cheap that isn't going to last or work like it should.

Perusing the online catalogs, it seems like my consideration set isn't that huge, based on cost. I'm leary of the plastic Danelectro ones, given the online reviews written. Can anyone suggest the contrary?

Any thoughts on the following pedals?
- Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo Pedal
- DigiTech DigiVerb Pedal vs. DigiTech DigiDelay Pedal
- Boss DD-3 Digital Delay Pedal (is this the gold standard?)
- Line 6 ToneCore Echo Park Delay Pedal
- Behringer Delay Pedal

I'm not playing loads of live shows, I'm not looking to do recording, etc. I just need a delay pedal when I'm playing around at home, playing at a friend's house, that sort of thing. What's the best bang for the buck?

Thanks in advance.

MXR Carbon Copy.

It's simple, and it sounds good. It's also pretty decently priced for an analog delay.

Thanks for the recos. Unfortunately, at an average of a buck fifty, the MXR Carbon Copy is a bit rich for what I can afford. Even the ones on ebay are at around a hundred bucks or north of that.

So, put in some overtime.

+1000000 on the Carbon Copy.

Definitly a +1 on the Carbon Copy. The Boss DD3 is awesome too but a did some mods to mine to sweeten it up. My next pedal is going to be a Carbon Copy. Sometimes it's better to wait a little longer and save your cash to get a better unit than buy something now and get rid of it later. We've all done that, myself more times than I can count.

Definitely go for the Carbon Copy. Even if it's a little over your budget, it'll be well worth it. It's a great value at it's price. You can find them for around $100 if you look hard enough... ebay, forums, etc. Just be patient and save a little more. You'll be glad you did.

Re: Pedal newbie question: decent, affordable delay pedal reco?

I'm lovin' my BBE Two Timer. It's comparable pricewise to the MXR Carbon Copy, so you may have to hold out and save a little more if you wanna go that route. It doesn't have the longer delay times that you'd get with a Boss DD whatever, but the sound quality absolutely slays the DD-6 that I used to use (sparingly because I didn't care for the tone of it.) It's also true bypass, so your tone remains intact when you're not using the effect. Good luck with your search!
