Re: New DigiTech Hardwire Pedal

I think Radiohead have used them on occasion. But, like that list seems to suggest for other artists, they only use EBows on a song or two. As cool as the tech is, it does seem that it becomes less relevant to many artists as their repertoire grows and their experiments lead them elsewhere.

If I ever get around to buying one, I think I'll have to fashion a holster for it. I've seen many double basses with bow pouches attached to their bodies; maybe I would be tempted to use it more if I did something similar with one of my guitars. Anyone ever consider that approach?

Re: New DigiTech Hardwire Pedal

Mike Campbell uses an EBow here and there. Before the EBow was the Gizmotron, invented by Lol Creme and Kevin Godley of 10cc. It was mechanical and too complicated, but it's all over the old 10cc albums. Pagey used one too.

Before this completely degrades into an eBow thread (I like mine by the way,) I have 180'd on this thing. It is a superb sounding verb and is now on my board to stay!! My POrGan sounds have never been better!! (One ingredient to good faux organs sounds lies heavily in the proper reverb in case you were wondering! Plate specifically!)

( Sorry for the derail !!! ).......Wow, and hmmmm......
So, you've worked with the unit more, and are keeping it......
The ONE weakness I see in the HoF reverb unit is the "plate";
it's not nearly as good as it should be...I imagine the "Supernatural"
will be a good seller.....

Yeah, all the glitz and glam is cool but I found a superior spring sound and the faux organ sound is perfect! In the end, it is all about the organ sounds baby!!!

I'm curious. I have the RV7 and love it. Why should I buy the supernatural? What does it have that the RV7 cannot do?

Actually... (believe it or not)there is more to it than this. It's a whole new pedal. New / different algorithms and all. For example, the Supernatural does the ''100% wet signal'' thing. The RV-7 does not. Hey, for some folks these things matter!

The Supernatural supposedly does a superior plate reverb. Of course, plate is passé, the real thing being one of the oldest and best ambiance simulators ever.

I just really dislike the idea of making one product/pedal exclusively for one vendor. I find it vaguely offensive. No doubt it's a fine pedal though!

The problem is obviously the fact that non-USA residents normally do not have the chance to own a fantastic pedal, not unless they happen to know one who offers to send it overseas.

PGS ships worldwide, with the exception of several brands. It seems that the Supernatural should be available 'everywhere,' no? OTOH, you probably can't get a PGS/TC Trinity reverb directly from PGS. Guitar Center also ships to Greece. I'm not sure about the specifics. Are there other problems involved? Is it not so simple? I just don't know and am interested in your perspective.

Re: New DigiTech Hardwire Pedal

Let see…I have the RV-7 and love it a lot. It has been my reverb since it came out and I have tried many others (can't sell the Chicklet cause it is so dang cool!) It is a great reverb for getting basic verb settings like you would get from your spring equipped amp or basic plate/hall settings on old 80/90’s rackmount gear. I would say if you are more than happy with your RV-7 and you don’t get into the ambient thing, then your good and pass on this one.

The Supernatural has a fantastic spring sound that has a very pleasant decay. More depth and longer trails are available on the Supernatural. The Plate setting is likewise changed with a nice lush sound with longer and more pleasant decays. All of the other settings are all new and aimed squarely at guys who want to create ambient soundscapes. I have never got into this type of playing myself, but I have been drug to that side of the fence more often because of this pedal and kboman’s recent vids! It is a lot of fun and when it comes time to record, this pedal will be gold!

It replaced my RV-7 as I was able to find a stock spring and plate sound for normal playing and the other settings are far more interesting that the other sounds on the RV-7. I am keeping my RV-7 for my “grab and go” board because it sounds great, isn’t worth much used and it will give access to more subtle reverb sounds if desired.

Snaresy – you know, I think my Boss FRV-1 does better Fender Reverb Tank artifacts. That and the tone knob make that pedal a lot of fun. The Supernatural is going more for amp equipped spring reverb on Viagra. I will play with it some more and let you know, but it has a more refined sound and feel than an outboard reverb tank. It will fool a lot of people, but if you have played an outboard tank, they add a LOT of character (good and bad) to the sound that this does not quite bring to the table…IMO.

I don’t know how I feel about this exclusive pedal thing but the concept did produce the Sovereign which Hector loves and this sweet ass reverb. PGS probably committed to an order of 100 to have an RV-7 painted a different color and to be loaded with 7 new reverb algorithms which I am sure Lexicon has no shortage of!! Happy players = good thing?? I don’t have a horse in that race, I just play it if I like it.

Re: New DigiTech Hardwire Pedal

Here's an aspect of exclusive pedals that perhaps is being overlooked: They would not even exist unless the retailers collaborated with the manufacturers to make them. Without the retailers, you couldn't buy the exclusive pedals anywhere because there wouldn't be any. PGS ships most of its brands 'worldwide.' Guitar Center ships to 90 countries. Yes, that will leave somebody out and that's an unfortunate issue.

OK, so Eddie's Guitars in Lower Slobovia has a fantastic idea for a new fuzz pedal. Eddie goes to Boss and says "Build me an exclusive fuzz pedal that sounds like a rutting elk." Boss creates the Moose Joose, exclusively for Eddie's Guitars. It's a wild success. I learn of it on the internet and realize that it's the pedal I've been looking for all my life. The problem is that Eddie's Guitars does not ship outside of Lower Slobovia. I don't have friends or relatives there, and can't even find it on the map. I am upset! Whom should I be upset with? With Eddie, for creating the Moose Joose exclusively for his customers? With Boss, for contracting to make a special product just for Eddie's Guitars? With the happy guitarists in Lower Slobovia that have the only pedal I've ever truly needed? With Joyo, for not cloning it quickly enough?
