I say, of those two, the MXR Stereo Chorus.....
You can find them used for, well, less than new.....

Re: Mxr Micro Chorus vs Mxr Stereo Chorus?
Stereo Chorus will be much more versatile. If you just want a barebones simple chorus then the micro chorus will do. I have a friend who uses the Micro Chorus and Micro Flanger and regular Phase 90 and loves the tones. But Stereo Chrous will be much more tweakable.

I find that the micro chourus boots your volume a tad when engaged. You may or may not like that.

Re: Mxr Micro Chorus vs Mxr Stereo Chorus?
I haven't tried the Stereo Chorus (yet) so I can't comment on which is better but I do own the micro chorus. It is surprisingly versatile for a single knob chorus. It ranges from a mild chorus effect to a rotary speaker effect.
I'm not sure I would describe it as a volume boost when engaged but the tone is certainly much thicker and harmonically richer with the pedal engaged.

I use the Black Label Chorus which is a re-housed Stereo Chorus. It's very versatile and sounds great with clean and dirty tones.
