Holy crap! Dying battery in my eBow = glitchy fuzzy awesomeness. [soundclip!]

So I've had my eBow for months and months, and I've been wondering when this damn battery would die, and what would happen then. I noticed the light dimming oddly today while playing, but it still worked normally for about two minutes of the light slowly pulsating before it started sounding REALLY funky. Check it out!

http://soundcloud.com/andy-tran-4/dying-ebow

Clean, ebow'd, clean again for comparison. The eBow'd section was caught on a looper because I didn't have my laptop handy, but no settings were changed - i.e., that's a CLEAN amp, humbucker Tele on the neck pickup, with no pedals except for the looper!

So I think I'm going to mod eBow for some kind of voltage starve knob. That sound is just too cool!

Sounds like the opening keyboard riff for Deep Purple's "Lazy".....

Is it much of a learning curve to get a useable sound from one?
For eg. the intro to With or W/Out You...?

No, it's easy...It ships with a DVD and instructions that warn not to get discouraged; I didn't read anything, just started using it...The song "With or Without You" is actually done with one of those Fernandes feedbacking pickups; But they operate on the same principle; A magnetic field is created..
The solo in "Love Hurts" is an e-bow....I've read enough of your posts to know you'd understand the e-bow within a minute or two...I'll post the song Saturday; Needs a bass track still....

I like you use my eBow like these two songs normally:

Moonlit Sailor - May Day - YouTube

Often with a slide. It's super easy, but I have gotten a bit better at it over time.

My pal had a voltage sag pot installed in his v4 E-bow. Scritchiness and blattiness abound!

I like Ebows:

Can you tell me more about that mod?

Thanks.

About the mod...IIRC, he had it done by Dan at MOD’ifying Your Pedals « T1M EFFECTS

the back of the pot is epoxied to the side of the unit (externally, obviously), I think.

Dunno exactly what value pot he used but sounds like the toughest part would be cracking the case open.

Here's another one just for sh*ts and giggles...
