Re: Big Muff Pi Tri & Rams Head Build With Pictures

You can double-check on Gilmourish, but I'm pretty sure it was germanium Fuzz-Face up until he switched over to silicon Fuzz-Face on DSoTM. I don't think he did the Muff thang until around Animals or so.

It's cool that you can build pedals. I really want to get into doing that one day...

Perhaps some punctuation and sentences?

i'm looking forward to seeing what you think of the two. there are enough differences in sound between the two to make it worthwhile, i reckon.

Re: Big Muff Pi Tri & Rams Head Build With Pictures

I owned a whole bunch of Big Muffs over the years. The problem with those old Muffs is that the tolerences of the parts varied so much, one muff can sound very different than another identical muff.

Not trying to be an ass. It's just a lot easier to read and understand your ideas and comments when things are separated out a little bit.

I am very interested in your build, as I enjoy building and modding pedals too.

That's the nature of forums. One solution for that is tight moderation, which can change the vibe a lot.

Re: Big Muff Pi Tri & Rams Head Build With Pictures

Gilmour himself used a Coloursound Powerboost in the '70s and now has two BK Butler Tube Drivers.

I think you should just go for whatever low gain overdrive makes your bits throb. I like the Farifield Circuitry Barbershop myself.

Re: Big Muff Pi Tri & Rams Head Build With Pictures

Yeah, Fuzzface and Big Muff.

Germanium is more important then the fuzz style, its also in the style of delay and guitar doubling on the tracks.

I can get close with most fuzz pedals, as long its the warm Germanium type clipping.

HEIL SPELLCHECK!

Re: Big Muff Pi Tri & Rams Head Build With Pictures

im not trying to be a grammar nazi just saying that it is easier to get your point across and get people to understand what you are saying if you use some punctuation and sentences that way things are a little separated out and people can follow your thought process therefore they may be able to give you more input and share their experiences and their points of view although this stream of consciousness style of writing is good for psychological applications it is not conducive to conversations or debates with other beings of the same mind

hey guys ran in to a problem wiring the rams head.im not getting any sound from the guitar at all but i do here a hum. ive used sockets for all connections and im worried i solder something wrong. so i might unsolder everything and do it again i have anoter pcb but i was gonna use it for the triangle but if i can still use the first one then im ok and i was wondering if it matters witch way the resistors go i kno the caps have to be postive and negative postions???

it does not matter which way the resistors are, they are not polar.

If you have a multimeter, check each connection to make sure you don't have a cold solder joint, which seems fairly likely.
