NPD/Wampler Crush the Button
Well, first, there is something wrong that I can't stop buying pedals. That's a problem. I'll think about that later. Now, I'm not much of a high gain type, mostly classic rock & blues, but I saw the Wampler crush and it sounded like it did much more than just high gain, so I grabbed one. Glad I did.

Re: NPD/Wampler Crush the Button
Nice!!! The Crush is a bit too modern for my tastes but a cool one none the less. More in modern Orange territory.
The Wamplers I want now are the Tweed '57, Black '65, Plexi Drive, Pinnacle, and SLOstortion. Not really into the Leviathan, Triple Wreck, Ecstasy (now Euphoria) though. And I think the Plextortion would be great but I have enough 80s pedals already between my Crunch Box and '78 Distortion. HNPD!!!

Re: NPD/Wampler Crush the Button
I just got the Slostortion and I'm not digging it so far. It is really mushy with no top end and flabby in the bottom, all midrange pretty much. Tried it through 4 different amps with the same result. My first Wampler pedal, built great and quality through out but just not my cup of tea so far. Let me know if anyone else has one or tried one and their opinion on it.

Re: NPD/Wampler Crush the Button
Sixstring63, I have a Slostortion. I like it, but I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I'm a pedal addict. I'm always looking for something new. I can, pretty much, find something great in just about every pedal I have. I run my Slostortion with an LP through a Fender 57' Twin Tweed. I wouldn't use it for everything, but again, I find uses for it. For what it's worth, I just tried the Crush through my Marshall, didn't really care for it at all. But, through the Fender, it's very nice.

Your problem is very common with these pedals. Brian apparently tweaked it to give it some more top end,how old is yours? I have a Pinnacle if you wanna do a trade... ![]() Quote:

I just got it a few weeks ago from an Ebay store so I'm assuming it is a new version but who knows. I like the boost as well. I wish I would have gone with the Okka diablo + that I was looking at. I have a Carl Martin Plexitone that has great gain and clarity but the tone control sucks. I need to send it to a place called Vertex that mods them with TBM controls and makes them run on 9 volt power. |
