Electro Harmonix - Wah pedal...

How do you attach this to a pedal board?

One doesn't put it ON a pedal board, one tapes it to one's shoe......

Just because something can be done does not really make it something that should be done. The good side is that EH is out there trying to do new things whereas many companies are just putting out the same thing that they have been for many years.

That's true. And if you only have a few pedals, and don't need to carry them around or move them very often, then it's pretty good.

They over thought this one. The wah was/is fine the way it was.

Re: Electro Harmonix - Wah pedal...

I got one to "test" out. And I have to admit that so far, I like it.
From the stable seated position I set that as the max, so rocking it backwards engages it.

I too, thought the youtube sounded fizzy, but so far...I like this.

The noise (one of my peeves with wahs) is easily gated, the sweep is what you set it to be. The Bad Horsey II has a hum that my gate can't kill - I have to step off if I want t note to ring without noise.

The other issue I have with wahs is engaging them. My vox you can step on and either you cut the signal completely or the wah never disengages, even after the footswitch is seemingly depressed.

So the design obviates both issues.
I'll make some clips.

Obviously abusing it, trying to play the range up and down. No thought to the playing, just yanking the wah. Really not bad.
It'll sit and travel on a pedal board, but it may move - my board is slippery, being velcro.
The light to tell whether it is on or off is under your foot, so worthless. Not needed really, though. Toe it forward to on/off - and it works without guesswork.

I tried one. Sounded fine but chasing it around the carpet was a pain in the ass.

Great example of an idea that seems good on paper but is shite in the real world.

Re: Electro Harmonix - Wah pedal...

This seemed a little gimicky the first time I saw it. I can do all those sounds and 25 more with my Digitech Whammy/Wah XP100 without having to pick it up,well except they silkscreened the options and instructions to the bottom of it.

Yeah, doesn't look ideal. But then MOST EHX pedals are the size of Russia in relation to other boxes. They still sound fantastic. They make some of my favorites.

I can engage the Deluxe Mistress and just strum chords for hours on end. And the Q-Tron is a great auto-wah, when you need to dance a bit while flinging your Funk at folks.

Where the two flat planes on the bottom meet (below the input/output jacks), that line is the pivot for up and down motion.
I am thinking that line could be velcroed.

I also can envision some enterprising soul making a treadle for it - A box structure that could be velcroed and that walls the wah in, so to speak. Such as the device to measure foot size in a shoe store.

My LPB-1 is tiny and the original plugged right into the amps input jack.

Cool, those Nanos interest me, mostly because they are EHX and small

Re: Electro Harmonix - Wah pedal...

I used an LBP-2 as my main OD for about 20 years. Then I fell off of EHX, completely. They started to remind me of Danelectro - i.e. cheap.
Someone here recommended using an LPB-1 as a way of adding an edge to other boxes, not necessarily using it as straight OD, but rather a small, clean boost.

Meh. I'll stick to my Vox Wahs...I don't need to calibrate them sideways to get a half cocked Wah sound.

My EHX are no Danelectro pedals, you must be boo-teek, or

Re: Electro Harmonix - Wah pedal...

It definitely is unique.... EHX puts out some "out there" stuff but most of it is pretty cool. I saw where they are doing a volume pedal with a same/similar idea to this wah.
