Re: Favorite Delay Settings?

I'm not much of a delay guy, so my smart-ass answer is "off." What was helpful to me was finding a 'recipe' list somewhere for my TC Nova Delay. Maybe someone has a link to something like this for the DL4. If I can find the link for the ND-1 recipes, I'll post it as the settings should be adaptable to some degree.

Re: Favorite Delay Settings?

Two opposite sides of the delay coin to try out:
- mix the delay high (~50-75%) and the feedback at 0-ish, basically just giving you one delay. use tap tempo.
- make it as reverb-y as you can: low mix, kind-of-short time, a bit longer feedback.

(for ambient stuff, do the last one with a really high feedback, longer delay, and preferably with a long reverb and/or another delay. gets along great with volume swells!)

Getting to know your tap tempo and subdivision possibilities is a great way to get a lot out of a delay pedal. I find that just a random ~500ms, mid-mixed, mid-feedback sound like a lot of big name players use "for leads" does next to nothing for me personally.

Re: Favorite Delay Settings?

I run two delays simultaniously, one set for a short slapback ( think Sun Studios 1957) and the other set for a about a 375-400 ms long delay ( think Pink Floyd) thats turned down low for some background delay.

Re: Favorite Delay Settings?

mine is not dissimilar from Gilmour's standard delay, 300ish millisecs and six or seven clear repeats, but as i use a Strymon El Capistan i dial in a bit of wow/flutter and a bit more tape crinkle as it adds atmosphere.
