NPD Fulltone OCD and MXR M109 6 band EQ

I picked up those used today. 1 from a shop and other from ebay. Especially the OCD blew my mind and has paired very well with my Vox AC15.

Here is the picture

How's the noise on the EQ? I had a 10 band for a while but it had so much noise even with the controls down that I got rid of it.

HNPD!!

I've recently discovered that keeping my OCD's gain between 10 and noon and using a TS or other booster before it can produce some really nice tone.

GrouchyDog, do you have any samples of this config? When I went in to my local music store seeking advice on building my pedal board I actually started by asking to hear these two together based on a post you made in another thread. The guy at the store dissuaded me stating that they are very similar and for my needs more versatility might be better (I ended up with a ZVEX Box of Rock and Fulltone 70). I'm happy with what I got, but I was still curious about the tone the OCD+TS is giving you.

Re: NPD Fulltone OCD and MXR M109 6 band EQ

The eq is indeed noisy, I got it to lower mids a little because, amp and tube screamer adds up too much mid. but now after trying the ocd i may get rid of ts and eq both.

Hmmm.... I mess with my settings a lot so I don't really have any "standard" settings to give. I'd start with something like this:

TS before OCD

TS - Drive: 12:00-2:00, Level: 12:00-2:00, Tone: ~3:00

OCD - switch to HP, Drive: 11:00-noon, Tone: 1:00 or so, Volume: to taste

See what you get, adjust everything to find sounds you like.

I totally disagree that they're too similar - the OCD EQ is much flatter, the drive is grittier and brighter. To my ears they're very complimentary and don't cover the same ground.

I've got a '70 also - great fuzz!

Re: NPD Fulltone OCD and MXR M109 6 band EQ

Thank you for your wishes, i will post my comments after my fingers are healed, i had a small operation on 2 of my left hand fingers. I only was able to test ocd with a couple of chords and a couple of pentatonic licks.

Re: NPD Fulltone OCD and MXR M109 6 band EQ

Just let me share my experience with the mxr eq. Indeed it sounds noisy before the amp. But if you plug it into the amp's Fx loop, it would be quieter...

Unfortunately vox ac15c1 doesn't have an fx loop. But i will try it when i got an amp with fx loop, thanks for the advice though.
