Noise Gate ??

Hi Guys

I'm a returner to the playing live scene after a lay off of about 25 years. Obviously technology is much changed since my day. Anyways I'm currently using a KorgAX3000G effects board thru' a Cornford Roadhouse 50 and I'm getting a fair bit of feedback when I'm not playing. Would I be right in thinking a noisegate could help with this? If so can anyone recommend a good but not expensive pedal.... Also please advise where I should put it in the rig..before , after or looped?

I use boss ns-2 with excelent results.

Oh, and it enters first on the pedal sequence. It have an internal looper. Guitar in, and out, pedal in and out.
