funnily enough, i'm ok for muffs...

that echorec sounds pretty damn awesome, doesn't it? i can use the hand-based tap tempo thing as well, as my leg isn't always up to actually tapping

Holy crap... I was planning on getting a Flashback mainly for reverse and looping. I may have to get this instead. Sounds amazing, as TC stuff usually does.

watching all the toneprint "making-of" vids on the TC website, it looks like the most thankless task in the world!

Rockstar - "can we get more clarity? and make it more open?"

TC guy - "um... yes. like this?" (fiddles with laptop)

Rockstar - "i can live with that"

sheesh!

Btw, something completely off-topic:

FWIW: IME, the Flashback doesn't necessarily work well with high impedance output dirt boxes (Fuzz Face, Big Muff and OCD among others and to name only those in my analog pedalboard). It might totally change their volume AND tone once the internal buffer enabled - and if this TC buffer is disabled, the FX might sound bad with dirtorsion, while some modes ("Dyn" or "loop") would become impossible to use.
I had to return the unit (maybe had I got a lemon? IDK) because of that and now I find myself with a DD7, whose delay is not as good than TC stuff but whose buffer works with any of my pedals...
HTH!

In the video above Andy has been using it with quite some gain, most probably from some fuzz, and it does not seem to have a problem. And I never had the slightest issue using my TC Nova Repeater with any dirt-box...

I have to agree with hector but at the same time I can not dismiss what you are saying freefrog. It certainly sounds like something was going on for you. I guess we will have to see if more people jump in here with some experiences.

Cool demo clip. I gotta stop watching pgs demos, lucky they are out of stock of everything i wanted the other day or i would have been eating canned beans for a few weeks. No one likes or needs that around home.

Yes, I've noticed that Andy used a fuzz with the TC in the vid... and that's precisely why I've chimed in to state my own experience: on the unit that I've tried, the TC buffer was a real tone sucker with 3 dirt boxes among the 4 that I currently use (!). Again, maybe I've got a lemon but I'm not alone apparently:

TC Flashback kills my Big Muff's tone. - The Gear Page

No problem before and after this bad experience with my Carbon Copy nor with the DD7, so it's not due to my other pedals.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not trying to bash TC. I'd prefer to have the FB instead of the DD7. I'm just stating honestly my actual experience, with the idea to be useful for potential buyers: I recommend them to TRY the unit with their actual rig, if possible.

Kind regards,

freefrog.

EDIT: I've an input buffer (Super Hard On or Micro-Amp) at the beginning on my FX chain, I use good cables with a carefully measured capacitance and I am very cautious when it comes to FX chaining / impedance matching, so the the problem is not in these usual sources or trouble. :-)

That's good and useful info freefrog, thanks! I'll definitely try before I (potentially) buy.

@Freefrog:

No problem for sharing your personal experience buddy! That's exactly why forums are for, right? And what you experienced may be useful to another member that perhaps, in the future, faces the same issue.

I didn't mean to come out as doubtful, not at all. In fact your post made me feel better for getting the Repeater a little time before the Flashback was released.

i suppose i should point out, i've been using my polychorus as a slapback delay live and my El Capistan for the longer washier stuff, so can actually use the Alter Ego. although a good Echorec impression was a HELL of a turn-on for me
