Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

The two "standards" for mass produced wahs are the Crybaby and Vox 847. I don't know the "boutique" pedals, so I give you a quick bump until the true experts start showing up

Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

The Behringer Hellbabe is a decent lower priced wah. It was cheap enough for me to buy just to try out, and I do like the sound I get from it. I keep it in my "Travel" rig, but use it often. What I don't like is all the "Signature"" pedals (And guitars as well) that seem to be the rage these days. What is up with that??? Hopefully this trend will end soon.

Crybaby GCB-95. The original. The best.
Oh, and it doesn't cost a fortune either...

Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

what do you want to use it for/with??
for classic wah, i'll throw in my vote (as always) for RMC. i have the picture and it's fantastic. smooth, warm and well built. pricey, though. it's ideal for classic rock, blues, country, or anything where a more vintage feel would be good.
also there's the dunlop signature series... pick an artist whose tone best represents yours and try it. most of them are very well-liked by people who have them. and as mentioned, there's always the old standby's:crybaby and 847. modded to true bypass, they're always great.
check out RMC's website, if you're not worried about spending $200-300 on the last wah you'll ever buy.

Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

My Wylde Wah doesn't suck tone. I did a lot of testing to determine if it needed a true bypass mod, and it didn't. My rig sounded the same with and without it in my chain.

Have you tried Wah-Wah Boots?

12 Position Wilson Wah. $182. I don't have one, but I'll be receiving a Wilson Parked Wah in a few days. It's based on the same circuit.

I have the Dunlop Classic CryBaby and that's true bypass, only about £30 more than the standard CryBaby and nowhere near the price of the signature models. Doesn't suck tone and has a nice sweep

No, no, my friend. It's out there, waiting.....
My money says it's an early true bypass prototype and has Jimi's bare footprint on it.

I like the Ernie Ball Wah Pedal, it sounds as good as my old Thomas Organ wah that got stolen but with a larger sweep.

I just had a brainstorm or brainfart. Why not put in a vintage Bumblebee or Vitamin Q PIO cap into your wah? You could have the first Bee-Wah. Bee-wah or be square.

You're welcome. Wilson Effects makes some great stuff, but doesn't seem to have a very high profile here. Brett Kingman (Burgerman666) is a fan and has done a number of demos of Wilson products.

Wilson has a backlog, and some products are only available directly, so you can't exactly go to GC and try them out. I have three pedals coming shortly, but I'll leave the demos to Brett.

Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

I've done the wah research and aquire thing twice in past few years. I've tried about everything but keep coming back to the same 1970 Vox King Wah I've been using the last 12 years. Find one of those and do the true-bypass mod and you'll have a stand-out vintage wah thing going on.

If you're looking for something new that's reasonable, the BBE wah is basically a 535Q clone that actually sounds warmer in my opinion. Nice pedal for the price.

Shutting up.

Re: Best Wah Wah pedal

My personal fave is the original V847(mine doesn't have the AC so I just use the batt. adaptor).
I also used the Cry Baby for years, but never liked the topend it threw out.
But for ease of use and instant "on",due to the optical whatsit,I use the Weeping Demon Jnr(smaller footprint).
Sure,it can't hold a match to the VOX,but it does me for live work. Probably would,ve sprung for the Morley, but the Ibanez was smaller and cheaper.

All these other wahs with extra knobs and flight sims and such...c'mon! I'm just rocking a pot back and fro with my stinking foot

Garnish,to me,sorry fellas.
