Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Welcome new members!
Sorry for lack of posting - I've been in the Emergency Room the last few days in and out with gallbladder attacks - I'm going to see a surgeon next week to have it removed. So needless to say internet hasn't been a real priority the last couple days.

Welcome blamo, I like the name ...blameshifter already...thats the way, it could never be YOUR fault for the accumilation of all your much deserved and well needed pedals. Furthermore, if company's didn't make so many too choose from you wouldn't have PAS...wait you don't have PAS.. he does...no, he does....wait, he does !

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Brief update, this week I'm PAS'ing for a Fulltone '70 fuzz and an MXR Custom Comp.
PAS rages like an untamable river; it changes like the unknowable winds; it engulfs like the bottomless depths of the oceans blue when some dumb boat passenger leans too far over to look at the friendly dolphins and then loses his balance and ker-sploosh... <ed>Sorry, been a long week... </ed>

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Welcome blamo! Also congrats to all of those with NPDs.
I've actually been getting some BOSS dirts in my collection. I now have a DS-1, SD-1, and BD-2. I want to get the OD-3 soon. I plan to send them to Keeley one at a time as I can afford it. I've done some basic solderless mods to them by clipping out a few things on my SD-1 and DS-1. None are like that for the BD-2 to my knowledge. The OD-3 is actually best stock and is the best BOSS dirt I hear that needs no mods. I want to get one soon.

And thanks everyone for the kind words. I go see the surgeon Tuesday to find out the game plan.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Ho, ho, ho. PAS is nothing compared to CPAS, Chronic Pedal Acquisition Syndrome. Which you have if:
1. You bought not just one, but two Klon Centaur pedals. One in gold and the other in silver. Perhaps to reproduce the Gearmandude test on Youtube. 2. You own an original non-functioning Electro Harmonix Black Finger pedal, and you keep it around even though there are better pedals made today, which actually work. 3. Your pedal board is loaded with effects boxes with dead batteries. You cannot bear to remove these 'cause you like to tap switches and confuse the audience. Somewhere out there is a young guitarist aspiring to cop your sound, but you desire to keep your tone a trade secret, using subterfuge. 4. After finding the one golden pedal that allows you to achieve your sound, you scour the entire planet for all the other production models, just in case the manufacturer goes out of business, or your favorite pedal is stolen. That is what I call anticipatory pedal deprivation syndrome, or APDS. |

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
This is my current rig since I'm still without my power supply. I am going to order a new one when I can afford it.
![]() Basically my Gibson Les Paul Classic (with WB H a b a n e r o pickups) into a BOSS Blues Driver with Gain at 10 o clock, Tone at 10 o clock, and Level at 12 o clock through my 1968 Fender Super Reverb with Blackface AB763 circuit. Sounds pretty darn good I must say. I'm pleasantly surprised. It sounds very real. I still want to get the BD-2 Keeley modded or something when I can afford it - but I'm not disappointed with the BD-2 buy.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Nice! Despite all the bravo-sierra that went on with W B, I honestly wish I'd've gotten ahold of a set of his pickups.
As I've said before, the BD-2 isn't too bad - one of Boss's better efforts IMO. I know you're likely not gigging with that rig, but do you feel constrained with a simple setup like that?

Yeah I'm digging the BD-2. I still want it Keeley modded when I have the dough. Yeah, honestly I do feel limited (like I'm missing a finger! ). I definitely miss having more options and having the "range" that multiple OD's gave me. I'm the guy who lives by 'variety is the spice of life' and all about versatility and covering every base imaginable. With my board I can cover every studio guitar tone ever recorded but the Blues Driver is more for just giving me some transparent gain and some light crunch. I don't like it with the gain cranked. I like it a bit less than half for humbuckers or half for single coils. But for home jamming it is alright but I'd never gig this out. Luckily I don't have any gigs coming up until New Years probably, and I'll have a new PS by then hopefully. That said, I WILL be putting the BD-2 on the board and using it for a low gainer/booster.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Hello fellow PAS'ers.
Some news for you all. First, I saw the surgeon today and he doesn't think it is the gallbladder afterall. So I'm going to have an upper endoscopy (where they put a scope down the throat) and then see what that shows. I've had stomach pain for years and am so tired of not having answers. Second, my Tim pedal is finally ready! I'm going to send him the money tomorrow so in a couple weeks I should have a Tim pedal on my board! I can't wait - I hear so many great things about this pedal! Third, go check out my Dunlop new pedals thread in this subforum. There are a couple new ones I'm going to have to get now!

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Hang in there man, that endoscopy doesn't sound like much fun at all... but then again neither does constant stomach pain for years.
Grats on the pedal!

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Keep your head up and your back to the wall! Don't let them get behind you with that bloody tube
![]() I just fed my PAS this week, got 4 (6) pedals this week ![]() I picked up; 1) Marshall Reflector Reverb (actually, 2 of them... I traded for one, but while waiting for it to arrive, I saw one on eBay in Canada and scored it becasue I didn't want to wait for the first one to come from Europe....) It's pretty nice, and has a lot of options. Definitely recommend this one to any reverb fans... 2) Morley Little Alligator Volume pedal...awesome pedal, a bit on the wide side but it's perfect for turning down the overall volume with ZERO loss of tone! 3) Green Rhino (...2 of these; one off eBay and another off a forum member) This pedal has sooooo much tweakability, I'm sure I could have 4 or 5 and still need more if I wanted to 'set and forget' for an array of sounds. Sick sick sick pedal. 4) TS9 Tube Screamer. Another amazing pedal, not sure of the vintage but it's a great sound and plays verrrrry nice with my others. This thing set to 0 gain and just volume feeding into my White Rabbit or even the Joyo Ultimate Drive means a new level of high gain madness! I throw a Tone Grenade on the end and it's a beautiful thing. Adding some delay or reverb after the dirt, before the TG makes for a haunting tone with my (fat)strat that's to die for! All in all, a real treat of a week for me! I've also come to the realization that aside from the DD3 and GE7 I'm not really digging my Boss pedals....

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
I shot a quick video today of a couple cheap pedals and seeing what tones I could get. I used my old Super Reverb, a Tele, a Blues Driver, and a Tubescreamer and was getting some cool country/rock tones with it and was pretty impressed actually. I just got up before shooting this video so there are a couple clams in there and I shot the video kind of quickly in a hurry because I had to go somewhere but other than that, I think you can really hear these pedals and the sound I was getting. Pretty good tone for being two run of the mill mom-and-pop guitar store pedals (stock). I still havent sent my TS-9 to Analogman. I had it boxed up but then I realized I would use it while my pedalboard is waiting for it's replacement PS so I just kept it for now. I may even try another mod place, called Machine Head Pedals. He has a mod that is probably exactly what I'm looking for and his BD-2 mod is what I want too so I may just send both there and be done with it. Nothing against Analogman. I will likely be buying a KOT here real soon.

That Tele is awesome! I got to play a 50s Tele once and this guitar is about %95 the guitar the '54 I played. It's an awesome Blackguard type tone. Very nice twang and some low end thickness due to the brass saddles and the pickups.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
I've been stricken with PAS.
![]() I've gathered a few pedals over the years. Passively chasing my guitar heroes' pedal boards. This past week I went over the edge, I think. ![]() MXR Phase 90 Digitech Whammy Psionic Audio Telos EH (big box) Holy Grail (returned yesterday, wasn't functioning correctly )Boss PSM-5 All used through eBay, CL or forums. The few others I've gathered through the years: Dunlop BB535 Wah Boss BF-2 Boss CE-2B Boss DD-6 DOD FX40B MKii Clone (home made) I am going to look into building a pedal board. I will definitely post pics when I get something together. Thanks for listening.

Once you have PAS, there is no getting rid of it! Trust me on that one.

Thanks sir!
Also, is it bad that I have a link to eBay's effects pedal page sorted by "ending soon" on my toolbar?
