Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Anybody have any experience with the Wampler Pinnacle? I am trying to find a kind of amp in the box distortion for when I have to go ampless and plug into a DI box. I really like the soverign, and thats on the list, but options are good right?

I LOVE my Pinnacle.. I re-downsized my board again today and the Pinnacle is one of the 4 dirts on it (along with KOT, Paisley, and Klon clone). It's got a wonderful Marshall rock tone to it and it is great. I set contour at noon, gain at or slightly above noon (and I do mean slight), tone between half and 3 quarters, and volume in between a quarter and a half. Instant Johnson-era AC/DC (Back In Black JMP tone as opposed to Scott-era JTM45 tone), Aerosmith, GnR, Thin Lizzy, the list goes on and on. My favorite Marshall pedal for sure!

Can't go wrong with Wampler. I run Fender/Fender-voiced amps and they work great with those. Current pedalboard with said Pinnacle:

So you cancelled your pre-order LPGT?
From the looks of it, I'll be playing with mine, then possibly selling it on the Bay, since my scruples regarding money are nonexistent at this point and they seem to be going for significantly higher than retail. |

Hey Austin,
That Klon clone looks great! Would you have more infos on where to get one? I've been searching for a Klon clone lately and yours looks incredible.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Thanks!!! I took that pic a couple days ago - I love it!
For the last few days since I've got home I've only played through my pedal rig ONCE. The rest of the time I've been using my Tweed and just playing straight in..... I'm not ditching pedals but it's nice to do both ways and I've found the Tweed is pulling things out of me I didn't think were possible and somehow I now sound "cleaner" than before (and I don't mean less distortion/overdrive/gain). The touch response of that amp is remarkable. That said I'm not ditching pedals and will plug up through the big rig probably tomorrow but it's nice to have that sucker! I might start using it alongside the Ventura in an A/B Fashion where the pedalboard is only on the Ventura side and the Tweed is straight in. It's not really loud enough on it's own nor is it versatile enough in the sense of covering many amp tones so I still need pedals for gigs but I like what it does to the raw sound. I really think it would be like the "icing on the cake" amp or just the secret weapon to add that special something to the mix and add that beautiful warmth and dynamics to the sound. Two small amps like that and away you go. Even though I still have a long list of pedals I want, I'm very happy with this rig right now... That doesn't mean I'll stop buying pedals (quite the contrary) but having that Tweed I think was the thing missing in my guitar life.

I also did some serial number decoding and code checking and mine is a '55 (late) rather than '56 that they thought it was (where I bought it). It was the 928th 5E3 made. Speaker and tube codes also point to late '55, which is right when the Narrow Panel 5E3 was starting to be made.

The Blues King seems kind of out of character. How are you going to know when it's on? Oh, the LED.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group
Just watched this informal yet informative interview with Jeorge Tripps... Pretty cool. I think Dunlop has turned themselves around in the pedal department since he became their lead pedal designer. I cannot wait to see what Dunlop comes out with at NAMM 2013. I LOVE the Badass line and can't wait for a new one of those, as well as some more Way Huge and Dunlop pedals. I think they are in my top three pedal companies actually. For me it's Wampler, Analogman, and Dunlop (also MXR/Way Huge). As much as I hate to say it - I could probably make a board just of Dunlop-made stuff and be pretty happy. I think their stuff is super high quality, built to last, and very toneful and sound great.
