Fun video Austin, thanks! I may get a Carvin also at some point. I have always wanted to order one. I love constructing them on their website!

Well, I finally got the email from analogman that I can order my Large Bi-Comp compressor! It figures though as I just laid out almost 4 bills for Sheptones and a wiring Harness for my 335 so it will have to wait a couple of months. I had the Mini BiComp and it is a fabulous compressor but I wanted control of the attack so I got on the list for the 4 knob version which is well over a year long. Cool thing about the analogman list though is that once you are at the top, you can buy it whenever you want. You just stay at the top, which is great! It will be interesting though, as since I have ordered it, I have become a MAJOR fan of the Boss CS3, so we will see if I still like the A-man as much as I thought I did...but I have to wait a little longer!!

Curse you fate of PAS!!!

I don't know why. I mean, I don't gig, I don't have a band, so it does not make any sense at all. But I want an Octaswitch... badly!

Good luck sorting it out Ally!

Haha. Same, I'm not playing out anymore. But I have a loop-master looper. It's confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it. It's awesome and cleaner.

You can set certain pedals to specific loops, control your amps-effects loop/tuner, full bypass for everything. It's great.

I have a loop-master with 8 loops that has a seperate section for the tuner and full bypass. Also an end section just for controlling the echoplex. So nice :P

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

Hello friends/PAS sufferers.

I don't want to sound like I'm whining here but I guess I just need to get this off of my chest.

I am considering removing my videos and not doing them anymore. For lots of reasons, but tonight on another forum someone told me that I must have rich parents and that I didn't deserve the gear I have. Now, as some of you may know, I am medically disabled and cannot work due to several birth defects and orthopedic and endocrine problems. I do work on PC's from home by mainly word of mouth and can make a little money this way, but not much. Most of my money comes from disability, as I cannot work. I am blind in my left eye (can't drive), I have osteoarthritis and am in constant pain of varying levels, and I also suffer from multiple hormone deficiencies. I am going next week for an endoscopy of my stomach because I also am having stomach problems. I've had medical problems for life. I also have Asperger Syndrome, which means I'm a bit socially introverted and also a bit of a brainiac and nerd. I cannot work. But not once ever have I used my parents for money for gear or asked them to buy me something and not pay them back if I even ask at all. I do get gifts at birthdays and christmas but almost all of my gear I have bought with my own money. It hurts me when people don't understand and say things.

It also hurts when people say I don't deserve what I have. Some say it's because I'm not good enough (playing wise), and some say it's because they think I don't buy it. I know I'm not the greatest player. I like to think I can play well, and I've been very lucky to have been in a few bands, one of which was really successful and was the highlight of my life. My life is very depressing and my guitar gives me the most enjoyment of anything. And playing for people is one of those things I live for. I don't get to do it as much as I used to and I really miss it.

I guess what I'm getting at is that life has been very unkind to me and it really hurts when people judge or make comments like that. I'm thinking about just deleting my YouTube account. I realize I have lots of friends here who enjoy them. I also realize I might make people upset and that some don't like my videos or my playing and think I don't deserve what I have and make nasty comments. I've gotten a lot of them over the years. I know I'm not Jimi Hendrix, but I like to think I can play. It really stings when I get comments like these. It almost is enough to make me want to quit videos and just give up in general. I'm a sensitive guy and I let these people get to me. It just really hurts me and makes me wonder if maybe everyone secretly thinks that I get all of my gear bought for me or that I don't deserve it. I hope and like to think that is not the case but it does make me wonder since a couple others have said that.

Sorry for ranting but it's just a bad evening for me and I felt like some here might understand where I'm coming from. It's been a bad month for me with my stomach/health troubles and stress and just feeling depressed.

Thanks so much man. I really appreciate the support. I was just needing to get that off of my chest more than anything and I know I have friends here and that's why I felt comfortable posting it here. I just sometimes feel like sometimes it's not worth it (videos/posting/etc).

Austin,

Erik pretty much nailed it in a few words. Stop wasting your time, energy and feelings to internet-wise guys. Yes, you do have friends here and all your experience with pedals and the time and effort you take to make these videos are not only highly appreciated but also very, very helpful to everyone coming in here looking for advise.

Or to sum it up, ''screw'em!''

And, just so you know it, the little breaks you took out of this place, you were missed. Keep doing what you're doing bro.

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

I'll add this: You're one of the (if not THE) most knowedgeable dirt pedal guys I know. If you stopped making your vids/reviews, it would be like Lyle bailing on the Squawk Box, or Thump and River splitting from the GLP section.
Un-F'n-thinkable.
It's ben brought up before that pedal makers should be sending you their products for review. By now you understand how to differentiate the nuances and subtleties of different pedals, and even clones of the same circuits. Personally, I totally think they should be sending you stuff to review. It wouldn't have to be for keeps; I'm sure you wouldn't mind trying new pedals for a few days and mailing them back after a full run-down, if they just covered the postage. Yours is a pretty trusted and respected opinion around here. I think I've yet to disagree with anything you've said, and been happily corrected here and there. (Thanks for that, btw...)
Add to all this how nice you are about everything. I know I'M not that nice. I feel like hitting someone with a bowling pin over this. They should feel lucky the internet is pretty anonomous.....

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

Wow - thank you both so much for the kind words. I really, really appreciate it. I haven't been feeling the best lately as I've been having a lot of health problems and stomach pain and they can't seem to figure out the cause and it's stressing me out. I can't tell you how many days where I barely get out of bed because I feel so fatigued and nauseated. Hopefully on the 18th they will be able to find the cause. I'm tired of getting the run around.

And then me being my sensitive self I let these a-holes really get under my skin. It really stings and it makes me feel like giving up at times. But I won't. But it just really hurts. I've always worn my heart on my sleeve and have always been that way. It just kicks me while I'm down.

I can't thank you both enough for your kind words - it means so much to me.

Hang in there Austin! Keep the posts and videos coming. It wouldn't be the same without you here. There are lots of mean people out there. I suppose that some must be pretty miserable to get any satisfaction in picking on another.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's a reminder that we don't necessarily know much about what each other is going through in real life. Treating each other with respect and dignity is a good policy.

The best folks here constructively share their knowledge and skills. For that, you should get an MVP award.

And this is exactly why you should keep on playing and enjoying it bud! Everyone here appreciates what you do, your video's have helped me (and i guess many more!) make some pedal choises. And it might be easely said on my side, but hang in there man! Dont delete your youtube account and give in to the little internet a-holes. I think that if they read this story they'd be sinking a hole trough the ground. And i hope they stay there

But in all seriousness, I really appreciate what you do for us here. And if you like doing something like making video's, keep doing it and dont let anyone stop you from doing what you like to do!

I'll pile on here - I'd hate to see you quit doing vids, man - it's something that you enjoy and something that WE enjoy and benefit from.

As far as the comments go, I hear you. My wife and I have had some situations happen to us where people who don't know any better make comments that, while either well-intended or unintended, are hurtful just because they didn't know the whole story. It can be hard to overlook them, but we needed to.

Regarding the malicious commentors, they've got bigger problems than you do and aren't worth your time, much less your emotions.

As someone already said, keep on keepin' on - disable comments when you can, don't read 'em when you can't, keep reviewing! Also, know that lots of folks here ARE jealous of your gear but we don't hold it against you!

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

Austin, people get jealous and they are insecure. They feel better by tearing down others. Look at Slash and Ace on this forum. Its ridiculous! Like their music or not, they have been mega successful wielding Les Pauls. I would expect to hear people that like them post kudos about them. Its a Les Paul forum!! However, if you put yourself out there you have be prepared for this element to come around. You are vulnerable once your video, or comments are posted. I finally got over that stuff on the video posting (well mostly!) Almost ever comment I get is positive but I have gotten my share of "hate mail!" You don't have to explain to anyone why you own this stuff. You have to put on your rhino skin and let that stuff roll off the side. If you feel like you have to reply or explain yourself, they have accomplished what they were after!

I have posted a new video in the Cellar and no one has replied to it and Hector did not "Like" my new big pedal board...but I'm fine!!

LOL, I'm kidding!!

Rhino skin, you will need it for a lot more than youtube, thats for sure!!!

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

I just don't get some people.

Of course I've been wondering how a guy apparently born in '88 can afford that guitar collection and as an eye professional I noticed the squint immediately, but I would never dream of even asking about it - making rude remarks is completely unthinkable for me. And now I know!

I really feel for you re the health issues you have to deal with. I won't pretend I can understand much of it, but I've had a couple of very rough times myself in my life.

And everyone are different levels of players, I certainly won't impress with any blazing legato runs but I like to think I have something else that is uniquely me in my playing. I can't stand blues playing, but that's just me.

So... if this was rambling and incoherent that's just the beer talking (Belhaven Wee Heavy, 6,9%, crikey!). Please keep doing the videos because they are a fine way to hear how the pedals sound, but more valuable to me personally is your participation and advice on this forum. I'd never be saving for a Green Rhino without your comments on it!

Also, I'm still a noob here but I've felt welcome from day one and you are a big part in that.

Austin,

Please keep the faith brother. Your opinion matters and has helped this pedal noob choose several great pedals......Thank You for your assistance.

I don't pretend to know what you go through but I am the father of a child on the spectrum (high functioning autistic). The thought of the random unkindness of the cowards hiding behind the anonymity of the internet taking shots at you fills me with murderous rage.

Like the others have said, ignore these a-holes and keep making your vids; they are an important part of my decision making process when buying a new pedal.

Thank you all so very much. I really am at a loss for words - the kind words are so very appreciated. This last year or so has been very tough for me - my health seems to be getting worse and I have been stressed a lot lately and it doesn't help when I have this to deal with.

Thank you all again so much for the kind words, advice, and support. I truly appreciate it.

Thank you!

My YouTube address is gibsonguitar1988's Channel - YouTube

I mainly do my spin on a pedal demo with me explaining it and then playing some random riffs/leads that I think show the pedal off best and show how it sounds and what it's good for.

Those arse holes WANT you to quit. Don't give them what they want. In fact, give them more! Obviously, you're multi-talented. And if you give up, you'll be doing yourself a major injustice. You DO deserve what you have. You worked hard for it, so it's no one's place to comment on it. If you enjoy it, WE enjoy it with you.

There's always gonna be those people who try to bring you down...with them. It's called "crabs in a basket" syndrome. Remember my friend...misery LOVES company.

Don't stop what you're doing. Do it MORE!!!

YO DUDE, I JUST CHECKED OUT YOUR VIDS ON YOUTUBE. IF YOU STOP MAKING VIDS OR DELETE THEM, I'D BE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Re: Pedal Acquisition Syndrome PAS group

Thank you so very much for the kind words. I'm glad you like my videos. I won't delete them/stop them. It just gets frustrating when I run into people like that and it makes me upset.

I've been pretty worried about my upcoming procedure and then this all happened and it hit me at the wrong time. Normally I would have tried to brush it off but it hit me while I was down.

Thanks again!
