Cool Modtone Extreme Metal

Hello
I was digging up some information on metal distortion pedals recently. Well, what can I say, there are lots of models to choose
I mostly play metal though hard-rock stuff is sometimes really great for me as well Is Modtone Extreme Metal suitable for this kind of stuff?
My last pedal was Rocktron Metal Planet and it was pretty good for Rhythm, but it's tone was absolutely awful for solo. Very thin and unpleasant.
So, the second question is can I use it both for solo and rhythm?

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

You can get a Dual-Pedal stuff, it has 2 switches (or more), so you have 2 sets of tone (or more). Like the SS-20 from AMT.

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

Slightly off-topic here, but just thought I'd share this.

I don't know about the Extreme Metal pedal by itself. But one thing I can be sure of, Modtone sure is of quality. It's got a good rep amongst my local guitar community for having boutique sounds without the boutique price.

I personally own the Modtone Atomic Phaser and used to own the Aqua Chorus. I vouch for their quality.

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

I have a Modtone Delay and it's a great pedal. I would not hesitate in buying a pedal from Modtone.

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

I play extreme metal and the MXR Fullbore Metal is the best I've played. All of the EQ options and built-in mid scoop and noise gate produces heavy, uber tight distortion that cuts through and preserves articulation for shredding. I go for Cannibal Corpse tone and the Fullbore, along with my EMGs, does it.

I've tried a Modtone Extreme Metal and it just had a touch too much fuzz and clipping for my taste. It's a great pedal though and you can't go wrong with it.

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

I've watched gearmanndude's review and I like it even more now =)
I've tried a few AMT pedals and I was'n quite satisfied with their that, maybe that's because I'm not really experienced in tweaking pedals. I mean I could get a great variety of tones out of it, but none of them was what i needed...
I haven't tried MXR Fullbore Metal, but, from youtube videos it really is made for metal only. I would like to be able to get some hard rock sounds. Can it handle something like Led Zeppelin?
And you guys say Modtone makes really decent and great sounding pedals.
I guess, I've read somewhere that Modtone is a rebranded chinese pedals named "Belcat" or something like that. Are you sure they are that reliable?

Re: Modtone Extreme Metal

The Fullbore is only a one trick metal pony for players that don't know what they're doing. I get tones ranging from Randy Rhoads, AC/DC, Van Halen, and Zakk Wylde to Metallica, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Death, Morbid Angel, etc. The EQ control makes it versatile enough to play rock and metal. I also like the way the Fullbore responds to my varying pick attack, guitar's volume knob and neck pickup, and 3 amp channels over just about every other distortion pedal I've ever tried.

This, I'm not aware of. I know there are some Belcat pedals around the local guitar stores; just have not really been bothered to take a look. But if you're getting something named/branded Modtone, you may just go for it. The quality is there (however, the sound quality may not be what you expected) but the overall QC is top notch. Best is to try it before buying it. Like it? Buy it. Simple.

Or, why not try those Belcat pedals? You might just end up liking it.
