Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !

What is your go to pedal when looking to take your amp into Overdrive heaven ?

Here's my board .. I use a Lovepedal COT50 for a bit of extra Plexi like feel and grit when needed but my favorite pedal to push my Marshall into tube amp bliss is my Klon Centaur !!

Guyatone OD-2 is the best stock overdrive I've ever heard. 1 small mod, and it goes into the best OD period!

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !

has to be a proco rat.

can roll off the distortion to get more of a classic overdrive, but with it cranked you can get big muff size drive whilst still retaining definition in your notes.

mmmmmm rat.

Yea I've got a Rat too.. it is a great pedal!

Also the Direct Drive is pretty sweet, or the Fulltone Fulldrive.

Or of course, the old green monster... but not really any of its reincarnations.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !

I doubt one would call it a true distortion pedal Ive been messing with a digitech Clapton crossroads pedal the last few days, I think I can tweak it out to something useable, although not a Clapton fan (that just pissed a few people off Im sure) it has some good tones on it, Usually I just use a boss BD2 keely mod. Dont really need any ear piercing stuff anymore.

The Tube King always looked interesting to me .... but , Reminded me of a Mesa Boogie V-Twin pedal I owned and hated to death ( big box of mush ! )

An Ibanez SD9 Sonic Distortion through the Fender Twin. I don't need a distortion pedal for the SL-X.

You like it? I was looking at one here at a local shop but didn't have the time to play around with it. Now, I am curious. Any tips before I check it out?

The key to a Klon sounding good is that you have to have a good basic guitar into amp sound !! Because the Klon just gives you more of what your amp is giving you now but rounder and warmer and bigger and I want to go plug in just thinking about it !! The Klon boost's the Cot50 really well too !! I use an R8 into an 80's JCM800 and it's great to kick it into OD with the KLON !!

Yup. Can't agree more. The Klon is best into an amp that's 'already happy' and just gives it that extra WOW.

Though it's not on my board anymore, mine goes nowhere.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !

Combination, using less gain at the amp and more from the pedal to get a bit cleaner. Plus I've been using Single Coils a bit more, so needed more gain Using the Relic drive I mentioned in another thread.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !

My TS 9 original I traded for. Gave my buddy Stu. a bearhead for it, Mr Bear ( his head) was an occupant of my cabin/ house when I bought it, and my dogs always wanted to get at it to chew, the Tubscreamer is far more useful

What kind of bear though? Haha

I've always wanted to mount a polar bear, but they are so endangered that it would be a shame, especially with the ice breaking up north, and the northwest passage opening up after 4 million years of being covered in ice. They'll be extinct soon whether they are hunted or not.

I wouldn't mind having a grizzly though, but probably only because I already have an original TS-9.
