Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
Some pedals just dont seem to work well with some amps , and some just dont work well thru any amps

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
This Blue Tube pedal...yeah, I know it was originaly for bass, but so was the Bassman amp.
This thing sounded great with the stock tube, but a old GE 12ax7 made it much creamier. It'll growl if you thwack the strings, and pushing it with an Austin Gold OD makes Santana sustain a breeze.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
I'm using a v3 OCD right now...
A friend lent me his Rat distortion once, 7yrs ago. It was the very first version made...I'm wondering if anyone here has tried that before? I think that pedal has the smoothest sounding distortion still.. |

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
jUST FOUND IT with the original Expandora ! Whoooooo this thing sings now, I have left it in the overdrive position and definitly still gives enough added overdrive and crunch , using my guitar's volume pedal for added push / drive , I dunno what the re issues sound like compared but I am gonna own this pedal !

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
Well, wouldn't say it's my favorite...
![]() ...but it's what I'm using now I had stopped playing around 10 years ago and sold off almost all my gear, including a couple distortion pedals. When I got back into it last year, I didn't want to sink money into re-buying the separate distortion, chorus, flange, delay, etc that I had before, and opted to pick up one of these used at GC. But I'm not getting the tone out of it that I want. I spend too much time fiddling with it trying to get the sound I want and not enough time just playing.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
I just got my "BB preamp" pedal today and spent several hours playing around with it. Awesome pedal! This is by far my favorite Boost/OD pedal that I've played through. I also have a Jekyl and Hyde which sounds really good but just doesn't quite have it compared to the BB. The Les and the Strat both sound great through it. It has a really great OD sound without coloring the guitar sound.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
I picked up the Marshall GV-2 up from GC last week. I have to say for $50 (used) this thing has some nice tones, sustain, great bottom end and fullness. I also have the Ibanez TS9DX running before it for some added oomph! through a Roland JC-77.

Re: Your Favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal !
Well, I love having a lot of different sounds, so I'm using 3 distortion/fuzzes.
Boss SD-1/Electro Harmonix Hot tubes(new w/tubes)/Electro Harmonix Metal Muff. the metal Muff is great and has two settings for a total of 4 distortion sounds on my board and they all can be on at the same time for ultimate death tone. plus with 3 switch settings on a les paul, I've got a lot ways to make noise. |
