Maxon OD-820.

Anybody have one?
Tonewise how does it differ from the TS808 and TS9? I've had both (including stock, analogman & keeley modded versions) and am thinking of trying one of these out since it looks like I'm going back to just using my Twin and will need a drive pedal.

Gregor giving one a run through. Sounds pretty tasty to me, but then, I realize a lot of that is Gregor's playing itself:

Re: Maxon OD-820.

I think ANY Maxon OD pedal is a good investment. I have a OD9 which is basically an original Tube Screamer, or so I'm told, and I love it! I've never heard anyone say they don't like their Maxon pedals. Quality built pedals with superior tones imo.

Re: Maxon OD-820.

The OD-820 came into this world after a night of passion between the Klon Centaur and a Tube Screamer. A forbidden love ? Maybe, but that just added to the excitement. As well as the candles, the music, the huge moustache, you know how it goes.
Nine months later, Miss Screamer proved worthy of her name when she gave birth to the Maxon OD-820. They named her "Overdrive Pro."

What a wonderful baby she is ! The advanced power and mixing of dad and the sophisticated clipping of mum.

Above is an original song, "Defeat". (I knew nothing about mixing when I recorded this song... )

Re: Maxon OD-820.

Got the pedal today. Sounds okay with my SRRI but this pedal absolutely loves my 66 Twin. Warm, fat, detailed, and dirty!
It's a keeper!

Re: Maxon OD-820.

That's an unbelievable price for a pedal of such calibre! It's supposed to be amongst the greatest OD pedals out there. Many congrats man!

Thanks guys. Sometimes I get lucky.
I've been through so many ODs over the years. Vintage, boutique, modified, the "latest thing", all pretty much fell short of my expectations. From what I've heard so far this one truly lives up to its reputation.

Re: Maxon OD-820.

Yeah $86 for a Maxon OD-820 is highway robbery.

Re: Maxon OD-820.

I own a bunch of Maxon pedals, 9 series, and the Vintage Series...and IMO, Maxon make some of the BEST pedals for the $.....their delay and modulation pedals are second to none....i think ANY Maxon period is a great investment...
