Re: Bentley guitar info?

I too am trying to find out something / anything about Bentley brand guitars.... When I was in the 6th grade, my dad bought me one. It was a Les Paul Custom copy, Cherry Sunburst and absolutely beautiful. Like an idiot, many years later after accuiring several other guitars, I pawned it.

I'm still hoping we'll cross paths someday. It had a bolt on neck but was a wonderful Les Paul. I can't find anything else online about ANY other Bentley Les Paul. It's a bit frustrating. I too hope to see / hear someone respond with some information.

Re: Bentley guitar info?

I had a bently lp copy back in the 80s
I've been trying to find some info on bently guitars for a few years.
tonight I finally found some pics of the one like I had.
mine was a real piece of sh*#
this is the only pic I had of mine, along with the pics I found tonight.
it was taken with a instant camera very poor quality.

Re: Bentley guitar info?

I found this in the Harmony forum;

Hi my names Jake and i'm a Bently guitar collector.
Bently guitars started back in the early 80s.
Martin did not start the Bently guitar line.
The name was actually started in a company called SLM which stood for
St. Louis Music. The guitar line was made as a cheaper guitar line than Alvarez. Bently guitars were made from 1983 to 1998 and were replaced by the Austin guitar line. Bently guitars started off as acoustics then later on started making electrics then changed the name of the electrics to Series10 and left the acoustics as Bently. I hope this helpd if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I think most of the above quote is correct except for the dates the Bently Electric guitars where produced. In 1978 I purchased a Black Les Paul copy Bently along with a Crate CR-1 amp. I later traded it in on a 1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe that I still own to this day. I really liked my Bently and played some of the best guitar of my young life on it,I have yet to ever see another other than in pictures.

Re: Bentley guitar info?

Here's a picture of my Bently Les Paul copy that I bought off eBay a few months back. Just saw it and bought it, spur of the moment type thing. Really don't know much about it except that I believe it was made in Korea in either the late 70's or early 80's. If anybody has any more info that would be great. Google search on Bently Les Paul copies really doesn't give much info.
