Rare to see one of these actually on the way out of Japan - US $2,200.00 price tag seems pricey for a MIJ but I guess if you look at the rarity and compare it to
the price of a Gibson standard and the workmanship that's gone into this it's probably not as bad as it first seems. Not my cup of tea but I could see why someone would want one.

Another chance for Thomas - Comes with a free K serial Orville

In all seriousness though it's probably a decent chance of picking up an ObG case at a reasonable price and a brown one rather than black. The K serials never go too high in Japan but still sell OK outside japan if in decent condition, that one looks in good condition so shouldn't have a problem flipping it on.

Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

Dear All, i'm just new to les paul and also new for this forum
i'm just kinow from the internet that the lawsuit japan LP had a very good quality, nearly or same as original gibby, especially very worth for the prize
So i just bought an 97 used orville les paul standard, tobaco sunburst,
but i'm just a lil bit confused coz don't have enough information on the internet, also the official catalog from the orville.
what is the type orville i had now..?

i'm just know that my orville is from Fujigen Factory (based on SN)
it has long tenon neck, 15mm maple cap (2 piece), 1 piece mahogany neck, and 3 piece mahogany back body

need advise guys....

Congratulations, that looks like a nice guitar and is a Fujigen as you say. They are pretty much the same guitar that became the Japanese Epiphone line.

I'm curious as in willing to buy it if he can either import it on make them put it on eBay.

I'd also like to know the specs, as internet translators don't work well on that.

Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

The guitar looks to be on hold now. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to grab something like that but a shortage of free time these days means having to pass on a few nice guitars.
I also just took the time to read the detailed description and it mentioned a fair bit of fret wear and that it was priced accordingly.
It probably wouldn't have much fret life left or would need some work.

You mean like it would need totally new frets?

Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

It isn't that specific but it sounded like it would need a levelling. It probably had lots of wear in spots. That is just my guess from the description, there were no closeup shots of the frets.

Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

Anybody here know a way to determine a neck profile on an Orville or ObG? Each one I see on eBay is said to come with '60s slimtapper, and I prefer thick necks.

I think most of them have 60's profiles....3 of the 4 I've had were slim. Some members here have had them with chunkier necks though.

L1803 ORVILLE

Went for 43K reckon that would have been your best chance of a case for a while Thomas, that guitar looked in good enough condition and would probably have flipped on it's own to cover costs giving you a free case.

Was bidding on this one today, dunno if I've dodged a bullet or dropped a clanger by dropping out. Set myself a 50K limit and it went 53K.

If you look at it closely you can see it's a white 57 reissue binding, ebony fb, 5 number serial etc. Problem is there does seem to be damage to the headstock with binding cracked off, not a biggy to fix, but the lack of photos of the damage were off putting. Gonna have to hope that neck was bent as **** and the headstock knackered
