My new Edwards

Hi guys, first post here. Just thought I'd share a pic of my first Les Paul style guitar, my Edwards E-LP-90SD, a model that is no longer being produced to my knowledge bundled with a Gator case. Immaculate workmanship, just about flawless, I'm very, very happy - so much so that I've just put it down for the first time in 5 hours

And more...

Body appears to be one piece and is light although I don't think it's chambered, I think that it's more to do with the Asian mahogany

Fits like glove, no body movement. Obviously there's a lot of room under the headstock. I'll bung an old t-shirt underneath it tomorrow to be super sure no harm can come to my baby, or mod the case later by attaching some kind of cushion in there with velcro for support.

Why is there such a chasm between the headstock and bottom of the case anyway???

If you have body movement I'd just lay a thick towel in the case, set the guitar on top, and then fold the towel over the guitar - hey presto!

Yeah I did the same with an old towel, but I figured for the price of that case it would have had a better fit. Anyway didnt mean to change the subject, that guitar rocks dude! Enjoy it!

Re: My new Edwards

Good choice for your first LP!!!! enjoy!! My honeymoon hasn't ended with my Eddy E-LP 92 yet. Just took the pickup covers off. Damn thing is more comfortable to play than my Gibson! Heavier too (this is not a problem, I'm just sayin).

Re: My new Edwards

Woah! Our guitars are brothers, born on the same day alongside each other! Noticed you have the Duncans in there. Did you swap out the stock APH-1? I've seen pictures of this model apparently stock with 'Seymour Duncan' embossed on the pickups and others without. My pickups are blank and the APH-1's on the SD website are also devoid of the logo? Presuming your and my guitars are stock, what's going on?

You based in UK?

I haven't changed the pickups so I assume they're stock, not sure what's going on, when I change my strings I'll have a look at the back of the pickups, see if it says anything. Yeah I'm from the UK. Where did you get yours from?

Re: My new Edwards

It was from Rich Tone music but got it second hand but as new. Questioned the seller who is reputable enough (he's sold a ton of guitars with no negative feedback) who told me that the pickups hadn't been changed and upon close inpection of soldering etc in the control cavity, this appears to be true.

I got mine from Rich tone too haha
Still stumped about the pickups though. How you finding it in general though? Personally I love my guitar, easily as good as any Gibson I've played

Re: My new Edwards

I think that the playability is outstanding. You can set it nearly as low as you want without any buzz. I played bass for 8 years up to 2 years ago (when people to jam with dried up and there's only so many bass solos you can write on your own ), so the jump to guitar was a must and a shock to the system to say the least.

The point is that living in a small town with one music shop that stocks cheap copies only, 120 miles away from Belfast didn't give me the experience I needed for choosing a guitar or give me a comparison between a good and bad instrument. I was constantly fighting buzz and raising the action and truss rod to counteract it with my Fender Tele and got rid of it there to finance the Edwards (barre chords aren't that comfortable for me or probably anyone with high action). It has given me a new perspective on what a good guitar actually is. Despite what the Squier haters say my Classic Vibe 60's Strat totally rocks and was superior to the Tele in every way at 1/2 the price.

To conclude this, NasalFloss eventually got two great guitars which altered his life for the better and they all lived happily ever after

By the way I'm loving the LP bridge too - just a little twist to the left or right to alter the height is far easier for me rather than individual saddles.

You've got a yin/yang thang going on there with your colour scheme. The name 'Burny' keeps reminding me of a guy that I worked with who got locked up and is awaiting sentencing though
