Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

Hey guys.

So recently I've been looking for a Les Paul junior style guitar. Preferably something thats a single cut, set neck with 1 P90 (keeping it simple). I've also been looking for other style guitars that are similar to the Gibson or Epiphone 57 Reissue, but really haven't found anything.

Any suggestions you guys?

Check Rondo Music -- I know that they have one with TWO P90's, but I'm not sure about a single.

They do make one with 2 P90s, and one with 1 P90 (however, it's an SX bolt on).

For me it doesn't feel like a junior unless it is just a single dogear P90.

Found one from Dillon, any experience with these?

Re: Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

edwards seem to be a reputable name, heres one on ebay now:

EDWARDS E-JR-95LT/RE Lacquer Tasted Relic (316184605) on eBay (end time 04-Dec-10 12:16:21 GMT)
its been discontinued so you can't get it new but heres the specs:
BODY : Mahogany
NECK : Mahogany
FINGERBOARD : Rosewood , 22F
SCALE : 628mm, (24.75inch) / Medium
JOINT : Set-Neck
PICKUPS : Seymore Duncan SP90-1b
CONTROL : Front Volume, Master Tone
BRIDGE : Bar Tailpiece

its a relic finish.

the epi 57 re-issue is the same guitar as rivers, although rivers is upgraded with a bigsby, abr bridge, antiquity pickup and he had it plek'd. i know that all makes a big differece but its a good base guitar to start from.
i dont really know about the gibson although i know the finish is very thin.
the epi's are pretty rare now and you probably wont be able to try out that or the edwards, so try the gibson and see if you like it.

Try to find an ORVILLE Les Paul Junior double-cut HC LPJD-70 from the mid-90´s! They´re rare, but KILLER !! Replace the pots & cap, re-wiring it ´50s-style, that´s it!

Lowdown and Mr Teeny like this.

by the time you pay $140 shipping on the edwards you may as well get a Gibson

Re: Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

Thanks for the replys.

Not really interested in double cuts, or relicing, but none the less thanks!

Right now probably thinking of getting a Dillion or the Gibson (if the guys ever Email me back on the price...)

i know what you mean but, some people would rather have the edwards.
it has a better finish, better pickup, comparable build quality the only down side is the name and also it depends on your preference on single or double cut, i think the cheapest gibson double cut is alot more expensive.

OP, out of the gibson and the epi i would go for the gibson. Never heard of dillion.

The gibson is not too expensive and IMO it's really good.

Re: Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

heres a epiphone made in japan lacquer series, the forum member snaredrum has one.

06" Epiphone Japan Lespaul Jr 2TS Lacquer on eBay (end time 07-Nov-10 01:25:09 GMT)

single cut
proper finish
the lacquer series are seen as the best epiphones apart from maybe the elitist.
about $850 with shipping

how much is a gibson? $1000?

The Gibson is 830 new from GC... but I wouldn't buy one new (or from guitar center either probably...)

Every site I find that has a Les Paul Junior has it priced 900+ used... the 2 I found were from 2002 and 2001. Any ideas why?

I'd go for the gibson then, if its that price new there should be some used ones for cheaper just have to keep lookin for a couple of weeks.

i dunno probably more expensive originally, you might be lookin at the historics. Ive only been playin for 4 years so i dont know about the guitars from 2001.
heres a few of the new ones with satin finishes on ebay:

Gibson Les Paul Junior - eBay (item 160501211344 end time Nov-11-10 18:03:53 PST)

Re: Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

Not sure if it's a historic or not. I Emailed the guy asking why and he said that the two are very different guitars... so I'm still waiting for a response on my reply to that one.

Possibly looking at a Billie Joe signature junior... any ideas on the differences between that and the normal Junior? (Besides coming with case, a gloss finish, and the H-90).

You should look into the Rist Workhorse from Roman Rist. Do a little search on this forum and you will find it.

Seen it.

Beautiful guitar.

Not exactly in the market to spend 1895 dollars though

Are the new Gibson Juniors available with a glossy finish?

I am not a fan of Satin.

Hey skull, I think you better take another look at this one. Fujigen, same as the mid 80's Grecos and the 90's Orvilles.

Ask innadaze what he thinks of his Orville Jr. (s - plural I think. )

Take a good look before you pass it up.

Re: Good Les Paul Junior Copy?

Check out (Nik) Huber guitars. They make a mean Junior copy but my favourite is the Krautster which has a splittable humbucker.
