Re: Navigator Les Paul

I don't know how to be anything other than a metalhead! And Creeping is definitely a fun song. I wish I'd been older in the 80s, to enjoy that scene more (I was born in '86). I definitely still try and keep the flame alive.

Re: Navigator Les Paul

Now "metal" is all about that tight-jeans crabcore/metalcore BS. Lame.

They're okay under high gain with a gate on, but they've got microphonics like a bitch. So, lotta unwanted noise. Frequency response is great though. Broad, tight crunch with lots of bite.

Re: Navigator Les Paul

Back then in the 80's. I always used a noise suppressor or gate. Now that I'm old, I just plug into an 18watt or sometimes a OCD. haha! Crabcore? sheez I'm old!

Re: Navigator Les Paul

It's some new crap the kiddies (who are younger than even me and think they know everrrrything) have come up with that's all about breakdowns and what look like squats on stage. Zzzz.

I used to have an OCD! V.4 I think. Great pedal. Wish I had my old rig to run this guitar through, but it'll have to wait I guess.

Wow, 39 makes you the king for sure and is a good indicator of how good they can be.

I did have a great one from the early 80's that had Jimmy Page wiring and was one of the best LPs for tone and sustain, but the neck was a bit too thin for me. I think the later models generally have thicker necks from what I have seen in stores here. It is my 2012 resolution to get another one.

Re: Navigator Les Paul

yes I try to get the 380's with the nicer tops, as a lot of the newer ones I think are plainer these days, I dont think i have had a real honey ken, although i have had a few with the same PU configuration, is there a real way to tell if its a honey ken or not?

as with any subject, MIJs included, there is most likely a fair bit of 'urban legend', myth, and just pure BS, when it comes to what is fact & what is not

Navs rock...I would sell my rare Burny, Greco, etc before I would sell my newer Navigators.
I have played the older ones and while they are very nice the newer ones just own them IMO.
They are the only new guitar I have played that feels like a 40 year old machine
