Les Paul Replica

Where can I find somebody that can make me one for a reasonable price, 2 to 5k? I live in Chicago, Illinois. All the replica makers I hear about are in California.

Re: Les Paul Replica

Can anyone say Bon Jovi

Les Paul custom guitar made by luthier C. Eric Schulte

This is a Les Paul Custom that was custom made for me, by the legendary Pennsylvania luthier, C. Eric Schulte. It is in very close to "like new" condition, since I used it more for recording, and not so much on gigs. This guitar is so beautiful, it deserves to be displayed like a work of art. But, man does it play well and sound great. Schulte was famous for his Les Pauls, and this was his 100th, completed at the turn of the millenium. On the headstock, is a special chrome plaque, with an engraved commemoration that reads: "Eric Schulte's 100th Les Paul Handcrafted for Tony Juliano (yours truly) December, 2000". Plus, there is an Abalone inlay at the top of the headstock, giving this guitar its special name: "Deluxe 100" Eric had been saving this piece of quilted maple for years. He planned to use it for a guitar he had intended to make for himself. But, then he realized he was never going to get around to it, so he used it for my guitar. Eric thought it was the prettiest piece he had ever seen. The serial number "000223", plus the words "Schulte Custom" appear on the reverse top of the headstock. Black TKL hardshell Les Paul case, with plush lining, is included (also like new).

HIGHLIGHTS & FEATURES

Lindsay Fralin humbucking pickups, custom-wound.

Mahoghany body, with carved internal sound chambers for maximum sustain.

Quilted Maple top.

Mahoghany neck.

Rosewood fretboard.

Tune-o-matic Nashville style bridge.

Abalone shell (also known as Mother of Pearl), hand cut and set, used for: one-of-a-kind "seagull" fret markings; body binding trim; and headstock name "Deluxe 100".

Vintage looking, cream-colored plastic, used for: body, neck and headstock binding trim; pick guard; volume & tone knobs; toggle switch plate; and pick-up trim encasements.

Chrome hardware.

Re: Les Paul Replica

Can anyone PM me names of Les Paul replica makers, would love to get in touch with one.

And no...I'm not a Gibson lawyer :P

Henry wouldn't want to know a guy who loves Orville by Gibsons more than overpriced Gibson guitars hehe

Re: Les Paul Replica

I have six Schulte guitars. I collect them. Marvelous. I hear Gene Simmons, Bon Jovi and George Thorogood collects them

1. L.P. 59 Burst - Gibson replica
2. L.P. Goldtop - Schulte headstock
3. L.P. Quiltop - Schulte headstock
4. L.P. 59 TV Special - Gibson replica
5. Gretsch Penguin replica
6. Schulte Jazz Archtop ( like Byrdland size)

I also have a 1985 Gibson factory "lunchbox special" quiltop.

I think you can save your effort. I mean, this thread is from 2007 and the OP hasn't been on for more than a year.

Re: Les Paul Replica

Yeah I do not understand the OP expecting a hand built replica being cheaper than a mass produced Historic. (unless you employ an amatuer) It costs Gibson MUCH less to make a Les Paul than it would one person making them one at a time.

No problem. I just thought I'd let you know before you ask your builder for nothing.

He is a great guy and is a big fan of the history of 225 Parsons St...and old school kind of guy. It was funny how we met...there was an Ebay auction for a vintage LP and it was very obvious that it was a refin, but the seller swore up and down that it was original...so (we will call him JOE) joe calls the guy on it and he starts rippin joe, calling him obscene names, nasty stuff...it pissed me off so i came in to his defence......well, joe emailed me to thank me, we talked for a while and he told me he was a builder.......and 2 guitars later....we are buds....LOL

this is the one i asked him to do...the imfamous Stanley Burst...

That's a sweet looking guitar, brentrocks. Nice burst and striping.

Hmm... so many different options to filling the dream of owning an LP equal to a '59 Burst. How in the world can you know which one is most faithful to the real deal.

the very first time i drove to Joes house, i walked into his shop, we talked for a while. then he walked into his house and came back w/ a LP in his hand and handed it to me. it appeared to ve very old/vintage...i looked at the serial #...it was something like 9 2355? stamped in black ink, al the hardware was tarnished, ring wear around the bridge vol. pot, brazillian board....heavy checking.

I was nervous...i thought i was holding a real '59. He let me sweat for about 5 mins and then he told me that he built it for himself!

I was floored! Then he took out the neck pup and showed me where he wrote his name and the build date....i was like F***in A!!!

Ever since that moment, i knew i had stumbled across a great builder and the longer our discussions ran, i knew he was a great guy as well. i feel very fortunate!!!

Re: Les Paul Replica

I thought everyone knows there is no beating a MAX replica? In fact one or two of the bursts in Beauty of the Burst are actually MAXs! Max NEVER sold his Les Pauls as the real deal, but subsequent sellers DID! And unbeknownst to the current owners, some of them actually own MAX Les Pauls and NOT real bursts! I have no idea which few in the BOTB are MAXs though, so do not ask me.
