Take it easy, I am just showing the bigger picture here is all. Perhaps the NSC Shop does great work in house and I hate for them to be shot down due to these spotty Korean pieces. Really it will tarnish their name in the end so I hope they decide to do their work in house down the road. Point is...you are taking the Korean guitars as THEIR work...they are not. Sure the one's posted are crap but I have yet to see one post of their own work (that bubgina explorer is damn nice IMO and is made in house)...it has just become a lynch mob mentality in here which is sad for a bunch of adults. I am out. ![]() Quote:
Well you think they are going to charge $200 for a shop that is just starting off? No one would buy anything if they do not have a name for themselves...come on, doesn't take a lot of thought there. You think Rist charged a ton of money when he 1st started in that little shop of his?

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
You are the one equating his name and Korean guitars, not me. I was making a point about any custom guitar shop just starting off or any business for that matter. It is business 101..you start off cheap in pricing to get the word of mouth out via quality work (not the Korean work but their own) and then raise prices as demand increases. I do agree that they need to stop promoting the Korean guitars and kill the Gibson decals in the headstock's (lawsuit waiting to happen) but their own made guitars look nice so I am just standing up for the little man I suppose.

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
So the OP'er hasn't resurfaced, eh?
I think if I had $1,500 - and I don't - I would try a few other options, and a real Gibsun would be one of them. Isn't this close to what a trad-pro costs? Pretty sure those are made with Honduras mahog, too. ![]() Just sayin...

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
I've read this forum from time to time, mostly to see people's opinions about pickups, but also to get information about LP clones. Before I bought my Reborn Old, I checked this forum.
The responses to my post suggest that this forum has been used by scammers or apparent scammers. I didn't observe this when I surfed this forum previously. While I'm sure I could never convince everyone here that my intentions are good, I would have written a very different initial post if I understood the mind set here. I would point out that I designed the specifications for this guitar and I'm the only one who has seen, touched and played it. If you doubt my credibility, please just ignore my posts. I'm not asking you to buy my guitar (which I wouldn't sell anyway) or any guitar, so I really don't understand all the negativity. I have loved Les Pauls for more than 30 years and I devour every piece of information I can find about them. I would think you'd want someone like me in this forum. Let me respond to a few items other posters raised: - The JP LP on the Nova Scotia Custom Shop site is not my guitar. Also, my guitar does not have fret-edge binding like the JP LP does. - My guitar does not have a Gibson logo on it and Nova Scotia Custom Shop would not put one on for me even if I wanted one. - My guitar probably is the highest-end guitar these guys have made. The other guitars people commented about are much less expensive. For example, the JP LP is an $825 guitar. You can see my guitar's build progress at the link below. The pictures are accurate, but the flame doesn't show up at all in them. Picasa Web Albums - NSCustomShop - '60 Burst in ... |

My Tokais don't pretend to be something they're not. There's no bigger scope for me about this, sorry. They advertise their own product with pictures of fake Gibsons produced by the factory they're working with. A company that is in any way affiliated with the production of fakes will never see my money. And no, no hard feelings. |

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
Epiphones aren't a knock off. They are owned by Gibson. There wouldn't be Epiphone Les Pauls if Gibson wouldn't want them to make 'em.

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
I think that if the Nova Scotia web site didn't have pictures of Korean knock-offs on it, this whole thread would have gone very differently.
It's not the OP's fault that this thread has lurched into wrong turn territory. And, to be fair, the pictures of the build of his guitar look OK. Glad you're happy with your guitar, man. If it works for you, then enjoy it.

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
So, I'm confused. Is that NS place selling fake Gibsons or not?!
Perhaps the OP could clarify? |

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
I saw those photos before I ordered my guitar. I don't know how long they have been up.
When I placed my order, one of the owners made it clear that they would make me whatever headstock I wanted, but they wouldn't apply a Gibson logo. As I said before, I don't have a realtionship with these guys, so I can't tell you why the photos were posted. |

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst
Just to be clear, I'm not blaming you, LoveLPs. I'm really not. If you got an awesome guitar and you love it, then great for you.
I just think that even if their workmanship is awesome and of the utmost quality, if they also deal in fakes then we should know about that as some of us feel strongly about it. Again, no offense intended toward you. My B.S. Flag earlier was for the NSCShop themselves.
