Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst

Notice how there is no straight front shots?
Why would anyone pay $1600 for a $300 Korean guitar? Sounds like a total sales gimmick to me.
That's just my opinion on the guitar, welcome.

I'm afraid that for that price, me, and no doubt many others, would be buying an American-made guitar.

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst

Construction sounds good. Nitro finish is a plus. Binding nibs look a bit strange, but again, a plus. Is it a solid cap? If it really does have high end woods, it isn't a bad deal. The hardware is Metric stuff - but if it is Gotoh or something, that would be OK.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't think the response would be quite so negative.

The luthier that I commission builds with would charge about 4 times that - then again, he is without a doubt using higher end materials all around, and his craftsmanship is unsurpassed. BUT, there are some great builders over in Korea (I know this because I lived there for 3 years). Not the junk that comes flying out of the factories a few thousand per day - but there are some true craftsman over there working out of small shops as well. Mr. Potato was one that I was kind of in to - but I never did get around to buying one.

the binding nibs are present on the closeup neck shot, but not on the guitar the OP posted.

Yeah...funny that hey? I would rather a early 80's Greco or Burny any day myself.

I didn't notice this one at first but now that I do, it really sticks out. WTF? No offense to the OP, but I really question if it's even MIK since i have yet to see such inaccuracies on any reputable guitar from Korea.

Not to be a devil's advocate here but they COULD be ordering in Gibson pup's and putting them in their finished products, right? Trying to keep them Gibson like and sounding as perhaps the Korean pups are shite? That is possible...do not be too eager to grab the pitchforks and torches yet lol. I am sure the Korean shop is putting the GIbson logo's on the guitars but the Nova Scotian shop should remove those and make their own logo. My MIJ's are all Gibson copies but I would never want them to say Gibson, I am proud of them saying Tokai, Burny, etc!

Haha you are such a grump, man LMAO

:EDIT: the custom shop website also stated that you can get the guitars with fret edge binding or without so that would explain the photos of a guitar with and without it. I do not think all the photos were meant to be of the same guitar.

Re: Finally! An Affordable Custom Made 'Burst

What makes you think they are not buying Gibson pups? I really have no clue either way but it seems the jury has made up their minds before really thinking of possibilities is all. I am just taking a more neutral and open approach to this I suppose.

Because Gibson pickups never have stickers on them.
If a company has a page with example guitars and that page is full of fake Gibsons, the case is pretty clear, I guess.

Gibson pickups do not have stickers on them.

What an ugly looking piece of crap, IMO.

What is interesting, however, is the shot of the neck with binding...

I could have swore they did on the factory installed pups to prevent finger prints and scratches when stringing the guitars & removed before final shipment ?

No, they don't.

Udo, did you actually look at the pics I posted, or follow that link?

Those are example guitars from the Nova Scotia site. All fake Gibsons.
The case is crystal clear. What are you arguing about?

So they make them both with and without. That would explain that photo...not of the same guitar but one with FEB. I bet the custom shop would make a nice guitar from scratch, NOT the ones pre-made in Korea.

Buy one, then, Udo, and report back to us on the Gibson pickups and the quality construction.
I anxiously await your review.

My point was, that if it is a Korean made fake with a Gibson headstock (as their stock photo's are), then it is unusual to see fret end binding.

Gotta be quality binding workmanship for 35 bucks.
