Pics when it gets here bro! Ive been thinking of an AL2000 for a backup to my dauntless.

Off topic, but how did you mount the minis in there? It looks cool as hell!

It might be a while. Turns out Rondo Music won't ship out guitars outside of the U.S. unless purchased with a case. Understandable, but I'll have to wait a little to afford the case. (Student life. Bah.)

Funny you should ask...

I had to bend the mounting brackets so the pickup would fit in the pickup ring. Then I had to drill new holes for the mounting screws. I also had to make spacers so that the pickup height would not extend too far above the pickup ring as I screwed it into the guitar. Once all that was done, I screwed the whole thang right into the guitar. If I wasn't such a cheap ass and bought some lollar mini-hums, I probably wouldn't have had that much trouble installing them, but it didn't make sense to me to spend more $$ on pickups than I did for the guitar. Plus the whole idea was supposed to be an inexpensive les paul deluxe. Mission accomplished.

Re: Agiles!

Interesting, so they're screwed right into the guitar body? Sitting on a spring for adjustability?

BTW, here's my entry in the thread.

Gibson 490R, Duncan '59 bridge, RS Superpots for vol, CTS 500k for tone, vintage caps rescued from an old hifi set, '50s wiring. She sings sweet!

No spring at all - I tried that at first but the pickup height was independant from the pickup ring and on the mini-hums it should all adjust as one unit. The pickup rings are essentially gutted P90 covers so as you raise the pickup height, you should be seeing more of the cream surround rather than more of the pickup above the surround.

But definitely screwed right into the body.

Re: Agiles!

Here's a nice angle shot of my Heritage so you can see what I mean about the pickup height in relation to the pickup surround.

I always wondered how the minis worked in those pickup covers. I've seen the covers and there's no mounting holes for them like a full-sized one has in the corners. I've got to try those one day. Thanks!

Re: Agiles!

This is my AL-3000M plaintop in HSB. She weights in around 11 lbs. Action is very low and she keeps in tune perfectly (although I might change the nut some time), but her neck pickup is way too muddy. Bridge pickup screams, though. I would have preferred MOP inlays to abalone, but they really don't bother me.

Bought with the case I ended up paying $560 for her, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I even sold my Epiphone LP Studio (the one on my avatar). The 3000M Agiles have received a price hike of +$100 now, so I'm glad I got this one when they were cheaper.

Even at $650, those things are still the best LP-style guitars for that price. Great find! She's sexy as ever.

Re: Agiles!

I think Aglies are the best guitar, for the price to quality ratio...I don't need to change anything on mine and it blows my other guitars out of the water.

Thanks, Akahito. I preordered it around January, I believe, when Kurt put it up (together with the tobacco burst plain top 3000M), and got it on July. I think mine must have been the last one available, because after I ordered it, Kurt took the link to that guitar from the website.

At $650 with a case it's still an affordable guitar, but I'm fearing that soon we'll be seeing Agiles at $1,000 (there's already a fanned fretboard Agile at $600 and the "premium" model for that one is $999).

The special neck-thru that was advertised for 24 hours. (I jumped on it). Looks beautiful and plays as well. The hardware is not chrome, but a gunmetal chrome (even the pup covers).

That's *very* nice. I especially like the matching headstock facing.

I think we're going to see more neck-through AL's from Kurt. Yours has the full neck heel, though, correct? They didn't publish a shot of the back, and I thought that a bit odd, given that they *did* publish a shot of what seemed to be a similar neck-through (more traditional colors) with the smooth (non-existent) neck heel:

But mine has a bit deeper cut:

Neither of these has as deep a cut as this:

And that's what I'd be looking for in both a neck cut and in a belly cut (Kurt told me we'd be seeing AL-3200's with a tummy cut toward the end of the year).
