It must be an amazing guitar - I'd like to get my hands on one someday. I'm still blown away and in love with the Elitist that I got from you (she sounds oh so good with the Vitamin Q caps, and plays amazing w/ a pro setup). Its hard to imagine a "step up!"

Other than the finish and the fretboard binding, which are nice-to-haves but primarily cosmetic, I don't know that I'd call it a step up as such. Just that this one feels and sounds really right to me.

And now that you've recap'd, I couldn't say which I'd take in a blind test!

Re: ObG LPR vs. Gibson Historic R8: decisions, decisions...

I recognise the gravel background anywhere Lesterious hehe.

Hope you keep it forever

Its one of those oddities where the "lesser" brand is capable of matching it with the "heavyweight" parent brand.

I long for a 59R OBG as well...although I could....hmmm.........refinish the 57C goldtop into a plaintop les paul standard.

I agree, the fretedge bindings are cosmetic...but I don't feel complete without them hahahahaha......its all part of the history of the Les Paul. i got to have em!

If you are looking for another OBG reissue keep ur eyes peeled on www.digimart.net, you can find great OBGs from time to time. There's been a few interesting OBGs that have popped up in the 2 months. The stuff u can find there is amazing.

digimart.net is like crack for japanese guitar fiends - I'm actually keeping an eye out for a white ObG Custom on behalf of a friend...

digimart is like the japanese gbase, so it'll be down to the individual store.

OBG black beauty reissue and Navigator NLP 300 CTM

Hi

How's that Navigator NLP 300 black custom guitar tone wise compared to Gibsons Custom?
I'm getting a good deal on one but that has a weird shape of headstock. How much did you pay for it.

Thanks
Vaibhav ( India )

Yup. Only visible difference is the truss rod cover.

And the honeymoon is still going here. Taking a flyer on that ObG is one of the best gear decisions I've ever made.

Hi

How's the tone of Navigator N-LP 300 compared to Gibson LP standard and customs ?
I'm planning to buy one which has a carved Mahogany tone but that's the only issue. Please suggest.
