Re: Show US your MIJ Les Pauls
Yeah...it is gorgeous but it is a total unknown. It was made to look like a Gibby on the headstock but it is not a real one. It does have a solid 1/2" 3 piece maple top on it and a short tenon along with a 3 piece mahogany back & what looks to be a maple neck due to some flame in it. I should make a thread and see if anyone can assist on what it could be. I bought it in Japan but it could be Korean made? Either way the build quality on it is excellent so if it is Korean, it was a well made one!

Re: Show US your MIJ Les Pauls
I'd be interested to know what it is as well. The color caught my eye. Sometimes it's hard from the pictures, what color would you describe that as? It looks like a softer tobacco, leaning more towards a light caramel color.

Re: Show US your MIJ Les Pauls
Yeah I would say it is more of a caramel/violin burst in color for sure. You want some more pics? If you click on the one pics you should be able to see all of them on that specific guitar. Got your PM and will consider it
I will see if any of the gurus here have an idea! Cheers man

Re: Show US your MIJ Les Pauls
Here's my 1976 Aria Les Paul copy. Bolt on maple neck that feels a lot like a vintage telecaster. It has almost ludicrously low frets, which are really growing on me, heh.
![]() ![]() The hardware was originally golden, but a previous owner painted them a matte black, which is slowly chipping off in some places, giving it a really nice distressed look. Last edited by Bjorn Stravinsky; 09-18-2009 at 08:14 AM. |

Re: Show US your MIJ Les Pauls
Unfortunately I am a total novice and cannot say with certainty how each perform and rate.
I got lucky really; went looking for an inexpensive guitar to learn on and had the money at the time. Bought all three within 4 months, but it took months to get the Elitist. Obviously spent more than I planned, it was watching jun626 on youTube that got me interested in MIJ Les Paul’s. Each sound different, lol. The Elitist still having its original strings has a hard time staying tuned, even with the Grovers. Neck has more of 60’s profile and is easiest for my untrained fingers. Has more noise than the other two when muting the strings. Very well constructed and the pickups sound great, when my fingers go where I want them too…. The Burny is the most unique that I can tell so far. Side note) I am having problems with the neck pickup cutting out and I can get it to come back if I wiggle the three-way switch a bit. It’s the oldest, and I sprayed air into the back of the switch and it plays well for a while and then the problem comes back. When it does work the guitar is so quiet, the notes sound more like wine compared to what I have experienced so far with the Elitist. The neck profile a bit meatier, but not by much. Sustains well, but cannot say lasts as long as the elitist. Another well constructed solid guitar. Stays in tune pretty well, takes a while before I need to tune again. The Navigator is like the Burny in regards to neck profile. Its sound is amazing, sustains great, the notes I hit (So far) sound closer to what I am trying to play and is more encouraging. Stays in tune, I play it and play it and it stays in tune. Had it in storage when I moved; for four months. Took it out of its case and plugged it in and yep still in tune. Overall, I can tell this is the best of the three. Starting to play at my age (Mid 40’s) is a side hobby, a lot going on. So it’s slow going. Obviously as a noob, anything I say as far as acurate comparison is to be taken with a grain of salt. Heaven help me, having some wood working experience I desire now to build one, and am drooling at maple billets. ![]() Thankfully that will take a while... ![]()
