Did you keep the original packaging? I've heard that's important in filing claims. Take as many pictures as you can, print communication between you and the seller, and file a claim ASAP.

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

I've purchased 3 LP's of of E-bay, all successful transactions.
Make a point to have lots of communication prior to bidding or BIN.
I try to get it to the point where I've talked to the seller on the phone.
You can find out a lot about people, through e-mail and especially conversation.
Send them with e-mails, ask pertinent questions. Get em on the phone.

I'll bet if you had talked to this guy about how we was going to ship it,
you would have known he didn't know what he was doing.

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

That's f***ing ridiculous. That's even worse than the guitar I got last week, a Samick mini LP.. it was packaged in a very thin cardboard box that flowers came in... with no support, just bubble wrap. The box was freaking demolished when it arrived. The postal lady handed it to me then practically sprinted off before I could say anything. Some people, man....

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

Oh sh*t!!! Thats not good..

Any chance you can get your postal service to give you a written testimony to state the state of the parcel wrap when it arrived at their office??

I've been scammed twice on ebay for other things and got my money back both times!! Make sure you don't delete any emails that show in your ISP mail inbox, you'll need to copy and paste the headers throughout the dispute.

Good luck!!

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

If I got to pick up parcels at the postal office (they don't deliver packages that big on your door here), I always make sure to unpack them right in front of the people working there so they can verify it in case something is broken on arrival. That has saved me two times now, when I've received broken guitars.

I realize you can't go back in time and do that now, but keep it in mind for next time. Other than that, do as the others here have suggested, hopefully it will work out for you. Good luck!

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

a few years ago I bought an 83 gibson les paul standard....good condition...just needed a cleaning, bought it for 1200, anyway...douchebag sends it to me in a box with absolutely no stuffing...no paper, no bubble wrap no newspaper..not even in a guitar case, just threw the les paul in a box....miraculously it arrived unharmed.
And they say Norlins suck.

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

Never heard of shipping an electric guitar in paper with no box; I hope things turn out well for you against this idiot!

Re: Great ebay seller! Not!!!

Wow..... I thought I had it bad when I bought a EBMM Stingray bass off ebay a few years ago. I picked it up at the post office. It was in its hardshell case taped shut with usps prioty mail shipping tape.
