strings don't stay in tune?

my orville les paul doesnt seem to stay in tune. I have to tune it after playing for awhile. I'm wondering if any else faces the same problem?

I can't figure what the problem is. can't be the strings...i've played with them long enough so they should be stretched already..

Re: strings don't stay in tune?

It's probably the nut. Do you hear a "ping" when you tune a string up? Might need to file the nut slots. Or the nut slots might just need some lubrication. Try some graphite powder mixed with Vaseline in the nut slots. Big Bends Nut Sauce is also really good if you don't feel like dealing with graphite powder.

Yes! i hear a "ping" sound when i'm tuning or even sometimes when im bending the strings. i'll try that graphite+vaseline mixture. see how that works out.

I just roll a sharpened pencil in the nut and bridge slots before changing strings , Tey , take your strings up an few steps when installing and then loosen them back to tune, gives the string a lil stretch like heavy bends
