Not only is this one not a bargain, it might be a new MIC. Watch out!

Really? Not a bargain and possibly MIC? Why do you think so man? If it is indeed an RLG-120 or 150, that is a great price IMO. Solid flame maple top etc.

The rest is a waste of time, you'll get bored with it.

Saying all that about the top end T's & G's, it's hard to beat the Historic Gibsons. I sold all my old T's & G's when I got my first 40th Anniversary R9.

Whaaa? The mid 80's (and even some later 80's Mint Collection) Greco's seriously rock and are very well made Fujigen guitars with old school long tenon construction and solid tops etc. I have no clue how you can say they are a waste of time!? Many of the higher end older MIJ's blow away the historic Gibson's and for Gibson to go out of their way to make big dollar "historic" models just shows, to me, how lack luster their overall production has become in recent years.

It's MIJ. It's a Tokai made Greco EG-75.
EDIT: Oops, I referred to the wrong link. But yeah, that one is definitely MIJ, too.

No, LS50s and LS60s had poly finish. Nitro started from LS80 and up.
From '82 to '84 they also made a LS70, which had nitro finish.

HELLO TONEBONE,

I am with UDO on that BURNY rlg -120 flame top,why do you think it is MIC
I thought it is good value 88k yen,but BIN price is touch too high@120 kyen . If the buy now price was 88kyen then thats better value for money,if it is a only a rlg-120?

cryptozoo is selling a nice vintage love rock ls80 1981 if you are looking for a tokai.see the classifieds.
I am not on a commission basis and no links to cryptozoo.

That Burny,
http://album.yahoo.co.jp/albums/my/113363/

The top carve doesn't look right
Doesn't have fret edged binding (yes, coulda been refretted)
Inlays don't have the "right" look for a good Burny
The tuning pegs look just a little too new
Hey, everything looks too new, that's nearly impossible for a guitar thats been in Japan for awhile
Don't all new Burnys come with uncovered 59/JB Duncans? Just sayin...

But the top carve, I'm getting red flags over that.

I could always be wrong.

No, they're not top-o-the-line, but not all of us can afford the "tops." They got a little mojo goin on, don't ya think? Just a little?

Better deals than you'll find on fleabay.

Re: Tokai? Burny? Edwards? Which is better quality?

mmmh!I see your point TONEY,some things do not look right, but i do not know that much about burnys,if it is a rlg-120 then it is made in japan,as far as i know, please correct me if i am wrong ,all burny models above rlg-90 are MIJ.
The tuners look brand new,if they were replaced then yes, they look a bit suspect,The originals might have had that horrible green tinge to them that some manufactures put on their guitars. The top could be verneer?
So at the moment i am sitting on the fence ,think it might be a lower model burny ,disgused and modded! The truss rod cover does not look right either.but i have no experience with burnys.

yeah, I tend to agree with tonebone... something is not right for it to be an EARLY 80's. I've never seen that orangey (is that a word) finish on a 120, or a 90 for that matter. And the flame does not look like the early solid flames either (tho' most 120s were supposedly veneer?). The inlays look too "white"... and then of course there are the frets (which granted could have been refretted).
On the flip side, the headstock looks old, and it looks to have some "honest" wear to it... I don't know

Re: Tokai? Burny? Edwards? Which is better quality?

No I am pretty sure all the 120 & 150's were solid flame/curled tops. The 50's, 60's, and 90's were veneered. Regarding it being a replica...it would not surprise me. Have you seen this? I am tempted to buy one if they were real wood...they look so damn good LOL

Re: Tokai? Burny? Edwards? Which is better quality?

I have found out that they stole a pic from a forum user's actual Super Real and are using it as their own so the pic you see is a real one, I wonder how the actual product looks?
