My Burny Buddy

This guitar comes to about 660.00 USD after shipping. Is this a fair price for this? I'm looking for a MIJ LP and from what I can tell (I'm no expert) this thing looks sweet. Please let me know!

Re: My Burny Buddy

the pic looks nice, but I can't really tell much. I'm no expert, but I really hate buying something like that I can't touch first.

Re: My Burny Buddy

Go for it, got one here and it's a great guitar. Chingo is/was one of the most competitive sellers on Ebay, always a good service. If you want to take a chance use the starting bid price, you might just get it.

Re: My Burny Buddy

Any "problems" with it being from the late 80's instead of the late 70's or early 80's?........

Also, what is an "overbound" fret? Does that mean "jumbo" fret? Thats a term I'm more familiar with......

Re: My Burny Buddy

"overbound" prob means fret edged binding, like a gibby.

Re: My Burny Buddy

'70s MIJ guitars had usually pancake bodies and the overall quality wasn't like the '80s yet.
The best years for MIJ brands were '80-'82, expecially Burny and Greco with their famous series Super Grade and Super Real.
The following years were still good, but in the '90s they started to let the guitars being built in Korea.
While the best Greco pickups, the DRY-Z, were on the market in the 1980 and 1981, the Burny VH-1 (early type, braided wire) are the most difficult to find because they appeared in 1983 only as a spare part.
Anyway a MIJ guitar made in those years is the best deal you can ever get.
And usually for prices like that...

Re: My Burny Buddy

Well, that's it everybody! I "pulled the trigger" on that son-of-a-gun and it's mine! I paid for the expedited shipping and it should be here in about two weeks! I'm very excited and will give some updates when it arrives!

Re: My Burny Buddy

I bought a Burny custom of Chingo, was very happy with the deal allthough the toggle switch is bust. I dunno if this happened in transit cos it came all the way from Japan to England, I was just happy it wasnt a busted neck or something. I will get the switch replaced and it came pretty fast too.

Re: My Burny Buddy

Did you tell him? He's pretty good, probably would have paid for a replacement.

Re: My Burny Buddy

Cool guys! I just got a copy of my packing slip. I live in FL, USA and paid for the SAL handling. Does anyone here know what "SAL" means on a Japanese packing slip?

Also: The seller declared the value at 19800 yen, which is a fraction of what I paid for it. I wonder why...? To stay under the customs radar? Lessen his insurance liability?

Hmm......

Re: My Burny Buddy

I believe SAL is economy air. Under insured is great if you have no breaks or loses, did you request it? If not then the seller should pay up in full if there's a problem.

Re: My Burny Buddy

No, I didn't request under-insured. The price on the slip is the declared value I believe at 19800 yen. The seller is Chingo, and from what I've gathered here and other places, he has a good seller's reputation....

Re: My Burny Buddy

You'll have no problems, I've bought loads from him in the past, as I said before he's a very good seller.

Re: My Burny Buddy

It's a beauty, that's for damn sure.

I personally don't order online due to the fact that guitars are all unique and different, and I may not like it when it arrives, where as I can always test out my gear at my local store before buying.

Either way, to each his own. If you buy it... post pics!
