Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
Those first run ones are beautiful, with a lot of nicer features than the newer ones, IMO. Nice lemon drop!

Thanks, I love the guitar. I swapped the tuners out with Grovers, and put in some Seymour Duncans. The first run were also about double the price of the current ones. |

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
I guess you've never heard of Zemaitis then. The first run of Xavieres were copied from the Zemaitis guitars, including the headstock shape and the embossed metal pieces on the headstock. I wouldn't doubt that Zemaitis asked them to stop, hence the revised headstock and body shapes.

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
The shape is different for sure, and that's what makes it cool I think. It's hard to come up with a variation on the classic LP shape. Most of them look like they want to be LPs, but just don't quite make it. The Yamaha Weddington (2nd from the left in the picture above is a good example of one that really works.

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
I know this post is for the Xavieres but since I have a couple and you have already seen those. So I just got this nice Michael Kelley the other day and it just rocks.

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
Here's a shot of my XV-500 at work a couple of weekends ago. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. This is a solid, well-made guitar. Don't let the MIC prejudice or the $209 price tag bother you. This guitar holds its own with other models costing 3 to 4 times as much.

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
This is exactly what I've been looking for! In fact, I joined mylespaul because of this thread.
I bought a used Xaviere XV-500 (Zemanthis copy) on a trip to GuitarCenter about a month or two ago. I walked by it and was shocked by how much I liked its "big hips". I didn't play it, though, because I knew it was an LP knock off. The looks, however, brought me back after fiddling around with some other uninspiring guitars. I was amazed at how well it played. I've owned an LP before, so I know what a "good" LP feels like and sounds like. The Xaviere was so nice I bought it (got them to knock a few bucks off, too). I'll try to get some photos up once I figure out how to post them. So thanks for setting this thread up and I hope we can keep the dialog going. |

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
Made a few (mostly) cosmetic changes to my XV-500 to give it that classic rock vibe...brass TOM (an early 80s model I had sitting in the drawer), TP-6 tailpiece (ditto), black speed knobs:

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
Here are some photos of the new lady. Her name is "five".
100_8994.jpg 100_8997.jpg 100_8998.jpg Like I said, I walked by her and she caught my eye. Unlike some of the other folks, I really like the big hips (Zemanthis) shape. |

Re: The Official Xaviere Guitar Thread!
Pureevilepleasure, those new volume and tone knobs look great. I think it makes a big difference in the looks of the guitar. (It was one of the things that caught my eye on mine.)
What do you guys think about the black and white pickups? I prefer the cover on the pickups. I was thinking about buying a new XV-700, but I don't like the black and whites. Funkwire that's a fancy tailpiece. Being a novice on "upgrades" what's the benefit to it? |
