Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

Soo...
Looks like a 1-piece back(haven't found a seam yet), a couple of the inlays are starting to come loose, uhm, awesome condition. There's a couple of dings on the neck, but apart from that and the inlays the condition is just fantastic. Haven't had a chance to check lacquer and top yet, I'll do that when I change strings(soon).
The bigsby is far from catastrophic, it stays in tune quite well and it has the wonderful bigsby vibrato that no other vibrato can replicate. The guitar plays fantastically, it is miles ahead of my old Terada ObG LP Std. I was planning to just pass this one on after getting it, but it's so nice I think it'll have to stay for quite a while.

Can't believe no one put up a fight for this one, but it makes me a very, very happy camper

Yeah but it's not just better, it's in a whole new division. It's like comparing a chinese Fibson and a new Navigator. I feel that it's that much difference, and that's just crazy. Not complaining though, just found it surprising

Re: Orville and Orville By Gibson

Yep the reissue ones with feb and 57's do seem to be a step above. Was a nice score to pick that up at the price, whats the neck like, most are chunkier than the usual 60's Orville necks

It's a little bit chunkier, but not by very much.

I always find the reissues better than the non feb ones, dunno why, if its a 1 piece back that would be the first I have ever seen...

I've done some gigs with it but now I'm afraid to bring it since a guy threw a beer bottle at the bass player!
