Other notable LP copies that aren't mentioned in the sticky thread?
Besides the more well known makers of quality Les Pauls - Greco, Burny, Tokai, etc. What are some other companies that made good LP copies that aren't perhaps as well known as the above mentioned? Seems the prices on the more notable brands have gone up quite a bit.
Someone on a craigslist near me claimed to have a Kiso Suzuki LP copy - someone maybe an RE: post stating it was not a KS copy. I've never heard of Kiso Suzuki but wanted to know if they made good LP copies, and what other brands to look out for. |

I doubt that you'll get help over here. Seems like the majority are specialists of the best known brands like Greco and Tokai.
I've posted threads to get info about my El Torres LP for weeks and could never have any hints about it. I wish you better luck than I had so far. |

Re: Other notable LP copies that aren't mentioned in the sticky thread?
There are many others, but Heerby and Fresher by Kasuga, History by Fujigen, Aria Pro II by Matsumoku for Arai corp, Ibanez by Kanda Shokai (Greco's parent company) Yamaha produced by Nippon Gakki, Grassroots by ESP, and Grandy by Tokai are a few that come to mind.
There is less support for obscure brands because unless an active member owns, or has owned one, we really don't know any more than you do. There are no "specialists" here, outside of possibly a few MIJ vendors, only MIJ owners willing to share their experience. The good news is that there are a limited number of Japanese manufacturers compared to the multitude of lesser know MIJ brands, so obscure brand construction can often be very similar to less obscure brands. Keeping the 6 Burny Japan manufacturers and their respective cavity route methods as a reference, can help identify certain obscure brands. _MIJ__FAQ_+_Links Because certain brands produce models that are not faithful reproductions of Les Pauls, externally at least, (which can be a pitfall to new buyers), they were omitted from the MIJ FAQ. Yet others were omitted because they were not produced in large enough numbers to be readily sourced. Googling the brand name along with "wiki" will provide more info about many of the brands mentioned above. Last edited by reborn old; 07-29-2012 at 09:21 AM. |

Re: Other notable LP copies that aren't mentioned in the sticky thread?
one thing you might want to do (and I am only 10 months into this process myself and believe me, I still get confused)
start literally going back to oldest posts here...and read a LOT of them./ it's actually quite fun, you'll get to see the growth curve of even some of the best experts here....and you'll see a lot of brands mentioned and even the rarest of the rare...I've generally seen at least 2 or 3 people post on their experiences with them. the search engine works here ok....but I'd use some good old fashioned elbow grease and just start to work through the posts. I do about 20-45 minutes a night here...right before I go to bed. it's like my Les Paul version of counting sheep
