Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Great pictures & super nice guitar Cliff, congrats.
Color is exactly like my 1981 LS100, which is VF

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Thanks guys.
I'm still on a holiday, only have a few in my photobucket album, here's another one for you Matty. ![]() Fretboard is not as black as pre 1981 LS in my opinion. Did you buy that stunning LS100 Jarrod?

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Yes I did buy it. But since buying I have been researching and found that the 1982 cat does state veneer for 100 120. On the other hand I also read that these changes didnt come until 1983. The top does look symmetrical compared to others(solid tops) I have seen so I have my fingers crossed
![]() Shed any light on the above Jacco? ever seen a 1982 ls 100 flame top veneer? Heres a shyt pic I tried to make look a bit better.

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Wow, you have two coming in? Not that it's that unusual, but it feels like a lot for semi-retired me. I wish I could buy more, but I'm just blank out of space, guitars everywhere you look. I get a sense of desperation from Wulf though to trade his LS-150, so that would be a null operation.

I've been saying that since I reached 10. I'm probably at 30 now... If I were permanently in Singapore it would bother me less, then I'd just hang them on the wall. Not in a rental unit though, Singaporean landlords are kind of anal that way. The funny thing is that at some point I tried to redirect my GAS to humbuckers (at least they take less space), but playing that game you very quickly run out of guitars and have good excuses to buy even more.

30
Dont think Im there yet. You and Wulf will have some good times Im sure. Its amazing how many fit in 1 bedroom. I have young kids so I am always conscious of breakages. Have thought about hanging a few but just cant trust them yet. |

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Not 30 LPs (more like 10 or so), but probably close to 30 in total. I stopped counting them a long time ago. If you can hang them on a wall then you could probably have 100 before you run out of space, but do you want to keep fresh strings on 100 guitars?

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
Thanks Calgary. Great post. I have a 1985 ls50 that has a solid 2 piece plain top, and 3 piece back. I know it is at the lower end, but it is incredibly solid and sustains forever after new electronics and pups. Haven't played a Gibby standard that sounds as good, yet.

Re: 1982 Tokai LS-80 "D" Stamp
No dont be silly. Any info is welcome here and of coarse there are always exceptions.
I agree that the reason my LS100 is a solid flame top is because it does have 2 spots with minimal flame so not good enough for a higher model. Stick around and share. |
