Pick up selectors

So I want some info on these things. Just replaced one in my Burny and it has a very distinct click between positions....I Like it!! I'm guessing it's pretty cheap as I don't remember buying it and certainly haven't gone down the route of switchcraft etc.

So my question, of those who of you out there who like to do this kind of thing, can you let me know how they compare? What's the difference between switchcraft and CTS? I use the selector a lot in my playing so got to get it right.

Re: Pick up selectors

No seriously, I want info. Just ordered three cheap ones for £2.99 each, compared to £15.00 for switchcraft!!!!

after order info... bad choice mate

Anyway your cheap one will work fine for a while, then could (especially if you use A LOT) became loose. Quality construction is about conduction of the signal and durability in my opinion. Probably you will not remember that's so cheap for about a year. I said.

Re: Pick up selectors

you mean those cheap shorty open switches that when you flick em they make a definite click and it takes more than a nudge from a bees dick or a stiff breeze to switch pickups?

yeah they're cool.they seem to have stiffer metal contacts in them than a switchcraft.
Then again I'm basing this off a long switchcraft switch but yeah enlarging the hole, maybe needing a recessed nut for them?blah pass on that.metric shorty is the way to go.
besides how many guitars you had with the shitty box switch that still actually work fine?

same as this pot bullshit.get ****ed you need to pay $100 for a harness with CTS pots and uber dolla caps and anything less is garbage.

Re: Pick up selectors

The newer box switches are great...no issues with mine thus far.

Well not really as I got a shit load of cash spare so if they work for a month and then break...but I liked them then all's good. Keen to hear from people who gig their guitars and had experience with them failing for real not hypothetically based on country of manufacture.

I think we'll wait and see how you make out with them. I use Switchcraft in everything but my Mex fender which has whatever Fender gave it.

Re: Pick up selectors

Yeah the one I replaced was a cheaper model but I have no idea of the history of the guitar so don't know why it's knackered. Think I'll give the cheap ones a test run in my rehearsal guitars, best not risk it in a live situation!!! I do like that confirmation click they have though.
