Re: Les paul build
Please do ignore my ignorance and lack of patience to read (I like pics more than words). Lovely guitar, great colour....does it have a headstock?

Re: Les paul build
Thanks for the pics! Absolutely Stunning collection there. Looks like it should cover all bases for you! That conversion is sick and I really really love the color of the replica top. It's just how I like 'em. Faded beauty.
Those amps are very cool too and great photos!!

Re: Les paul build
Gabriel, that's a JG Bluesmaster, really cool guitar with a vintage Les Paul type top carve.
There are some super cool guitars in this thread!

Re: Les paul build
Gabriel, if you do get the chance, try a blues master out. It's a crazy good guitar! ... somewhat like a les paul but without the "bad" traits of a les paul!
Jean, your guitars are even sicker man!! |

Re: Les paul build
Took some time to take some detail shots of my les paul
Some checking by the cutaway ![]() Here's a good representation of the color("unburst") and checking ![]() A closer view ![]() Really thin finish that just looks "right"

A few more detail shots
Check out the cherry under the guard ![]() A little more cherry peaking ![]() Check out the shrunken inlays ![]() Now the wear by the heel for a heel like me hehe ![]() Wear by the upper bout ![]() The cherry on the pie (my birthday... definitely my guitar) ... the best part is the numbers fall nicely into 59 serial range ![]() Just an all around fantastic guitar done by someone who really knows what he's doing. |

Re: Les paul build
Brilliant!
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. Since this beauty is in the league with a conversion and Bluesmaster - it is hard not to want one like yours. Looks, tone & feel in one place - maybe it's not perfect, but it surely is close to it. Enjoy it forever! |

Re: Les paul build
These are surely nice guitars, but if they have Gibson on the headstock, and they have Gibson serial numbers, but were not made by Gibson, then are they not counterfeit?? Are they not made with the intent to deceive someone, somewhere, at sometime? if not, then why would they have "Gibson" on the headstock. I do note that there does not seem to be any pictures of the front of the headstocks.
For those guitars that have the actual manufacturers name on the headstock, the following question does not apply: Fifty years from now, long after the original builders, and purchasers have passed away, what prevents these high dollar Gibson "replicas" or more properly, counterfeits, from being offered for sale as genuine Gibson manufactured products? Other than the cost and quality of build, how are these any different from the fake Gibsons that can be bought from counterfeiters in China?? Those are also made with the intent to deceive, but are easily identified as counterfeits by anyone with knowledge of the original and genuine product. Just wondering.......

Ditto. Difficult to have got to 200 posts and not seen this covered before (I'd have thought)

He just likes to shit on other peoples threads. He's asked exactly the same questions in another thread recently, boy must be bored.

Re: Les paul build
I had this guitar made for myself and its sole intention was never to deceive... but just to let a guy like me live out my fantasy of "owning a burst" because I know I'll never be able to afford one at least in this life time. But just to make sure everyone is safe, when I'm on my death bed, I'll ask my son to carve the word "fake" on the back just like Duane carved out his name on his guitar.
Or guys... just don't buy bursts so you don't get fooled!! |

Re: Les paul build
I don't think anyone who bought a high quality replica, thinking that they got a real Gibson actually got ripped off.
I'd be happy to pay regular street R9 price for a replica made by this luthier if anyone can find me one.

Re: Les paul build
I'd assume there is a process to identify a real burst's age and authenticity when one decides to spend 250k on a guitar which in 50 years from know will probably be a 2mil guitar.
If one is a crook and wants to deceive others I suppose there are more profitable "games" than guitars but that's just me. |
