the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

Hey guys. I thought I'd do a small writeup of my first MIJ and my overall impressions. I picked up a very early 80's Burny RR custom here in the forums. I can honestly say that I will never purchase another Gibson again. I just can't justify it after playing this Burny. This guitar plays better than any that I have ever owned and out plays my gibson in every way. I brought the guitar to my tech, WHITSETT GUITAR WORKS in Lowell Massachusetts. Bill is a certified tech from gibson to fender to everyone in between. A week before I brought my Burny in, Bill did work on an actual 74 white LP custom "you Randy fans know what that means.." and Bill told me that my Burny was easily ten million times nicer than the Gibson RR he had worked on a week before. I am so happy with this Burny I can't even stand it. And the thing that really still blows my mind is how affordable these guitars are. The thing just rips. I am already planning my next Burny purchase in a few months. I feel like I've stumbled upon something special here. It feels good to be a part of the MIJ family now. Here's a link to photos of my new Burny.

Congrats man! That's pretty much how I feel about my Japanese made 2002 Epi Elite Custom. Exceptional quality & features (bone nut, MOP inlays, etc.) for the price I paid.

Great lookin' custom!!

Hope you don't mind if I post some of your Burny pics for everyone to see?

Re: the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

thanks guys. By the way the color of the guitar is actually about 5 times darker and yellowed in person (which is what I wanted) for some reason I couldn't get it in the photos though.

Congrats! I knew there was I reason I was supposed to pass on it. Welcome to the wonderful world of MIJ! And don't worry, that color is impossible to capture naturally. She's a beauty!

Nicest looking RR I think I have seen. Congrats!

Now, what about selling that Gibby, and grabbing a couple more Burnys?

Re: the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

thanks guys! and YES I think the time will be come very soon to be selling my classic custom so I can pick two more of these up. I've put my classic custom up in the classifieds a few times but haven't had any bites. Haven't quite figured out why. Its in a great snap and has an ebony board..

Re: the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

I'm very interested in a navigator Custom but have never seen one for sale. I could probably pick one up for the $ I get for my Gibson... But feel like I'd be better off with two burnys for the price of one navigator

Re: the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

My black custom is from 87, has VH3 pickups, all mahogany. Can be had for pretty cheap on YJ. Would be a nice addition for you with a few different specs to the RR.

Re: the first few days with my first MIJ & my impressions

Congrats You got a good one for sure. There are ALWAYS customs to be had on YAJ and a few sketchy RR's, but yours is complete & looks fantastic!

If you ever pop out the pups, we would appreciate a few pics of her privates.
