Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
Tele's are the top of the heap IMO.
They achieve the award for the most utilitarian multi-toned versatile tool in the shed. Slap is still upset I didn't sell him the Fresher but I didn't want it to get a face lift and end up looking like Mickey Rourke. |

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
Tele's are the swiss army knife of guitars. Every recording I have been involved in, the Tele ends up on there in large doses. It's not always the first guitar picked up, but it's always the RIGHT one.
This one is my current favorite. I've done some mods since this photo and if I ever find a rosewood board neck that I like as much as this, I'll swap it out.

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
Wait, hang on. There is a Spacy Sounds Rosewood Tele Neck? From what guitar? I'm pretty sure all the Grecos have Maple necks in the catalog...

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
no idea it was bolted to an *uhem* se-700 strat body.
rosewood veneer not slab board.1 string tree, brass nut could be aftermarket, nothing on heel, skunk stripe.A little thinner than I usually go for but it should make for something different on this project anyway and of course the heel is about 1mm or so smaller than stock fender but not as small as the matsumoko greco teles ![]() ![]() *just had a butchers at a few cattledogs and yeah never noticed the lack of rosewood on teles to be honest.I guess if following convention it would have come of whatever greco was making as a "60s" tele |

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
This arrived with the post today, uncracked! It was packaged just as good as the MIJ's I've got! Original '54 Sun Records in VG condition, That's All Right and B side Blue Moon Of Kentucky.

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
Ok people... here's the deal.
I'm going batshitcrazy revising for these exams and I'm gonna treat myself to something when they are over and/or I pass. Something.... tele-shaped. Anyone got any opinions on MIJ tele's? (dumb question )Gotta have a rosewood board and a light finish

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
OK, assuming you want a blonde tele, the problem is that most makers like Greco, Burny, etc. didn't make blonde Teles with rosewood necks for the most part. You can find a nice MIJ Fender or Squier Tele with a rosewood neck.
If I were you, I'd get this Tele and replace the neck for another 10k. That's the easiest way to go. That this is gorgeous. I'd snap it up if I needed another Tele. I'll PM you the link so no poachers snag it ![]()

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
Dayum that is tasty and thanks for the PM
![]() It's a bit more than I wanted to spend unfortunately and I also think I'd rather find a tele that meets all of my criteria as stock... replacing strat/tele necks is always a bit of a lottery I reckon what with different pocket sizes and heights. I made a tele partscaster a while ago and the major issue with that was getting the bridge to line up with the lateral angle of the neck... had to sell it on cause I couldn't get it as I wanted it |

Re: The Unofficial String, Wood, & Noise Pub Crawl Thread
How about straight bourbon on ice?
I'm f#ucking sick. I don't get sick. I can't even remember the last time I got sick, other than a tooth infection. I had to come home from work early today. I don't miss work. It's my wife's company's xmas party tonight. I had to watch her walk out the door looking smoking hot in a little black dress and heels all done up by herself. I feel like crap. Fortunately, she had gotten a gift set of Jim Beam earlier in the day from a co-worker. Suits me just fine. Not the nicest bourbon, but it's better than many. Two full tumblers deep at this point. Figured if I'm gonna feel like shit, I might as well get sloshed. I tried to work on a mixdown while I was home, but I got a headache from staring at the monitor and concentrating. Back to the couch. |
