OK, I'm gonna stick my neck out and start this thread for all the questions and info on ny guitars made under the Deviser umbrella.

Go on, let loose!

Yeah that is a beauty!
I do not dig their headstock shapes at all on their newer Tele & Strats however

Yah, only the Classic Series (talking about MIJ) has the accurate headstock shape. The rest are their "own" headstock design which can be a bit too fancy.

And I ntice the way they do Tobacco Burst, they have a very dark (totally black) outline which does not blend gradually to the insides. There is a very distint line betwee the black and wood parts. (can you understand what I am saying???)

+1, and it's too bad. An ugly headstock like that disqualifies it for me.

Question: has anyone ever compared a Momose side by side with a Bacchus? Would it just be that Momose has the more in-demand woods? From what I read about Bacchus, it doesn't seem they're cutting corners in terms of build quality.

Bumpity Bump...

I do not claim to have seen that many Les Pauls but the craftsmanship on my Bacchus nut has to be the best I've ever seen.
However, the colour is not the opague off-white that you would expect from a bone nut. Is it a bone nut or a moulded nylon nut?

Nice deal, even at the BIN for a display model with a small body dent.

It went for 40k only! Gammy, you were obviously ripped off paying 25% above the going rate.

There has been a big typhoon here this weekend so I guess bidding is thin.
Nice 68 Bacchus SG here for 28k BIN. Bad pictures, but it looks to be a MIJ like JamesT's SG.

in one of my email exchanges with Ari @ Deviser, Ari stated that they use, "pickled cow bone" for nuts

I guess that means they soak them in Vodka ................ no, that would be Sake ................

I've seen a few of these Classic Series that don't seem to be reselling well...Got a theory?

In general the market here is probably pretty bad for upper end guitars, in particular the high-end Tokais and Navigators.

I think for Bacchus there is not much information out there in guitar magazines here and and name recognition is still a bit limited in general. As well, they compete with lots of other LPs here from Tokai/Edwards in a similar price range.

The Classics I have seen in person have been really impressive. I think if they had made them all 1-pc backs they would be selling much better though.

I am toying with the idea of selling my LP custom, only because I got an old Greco custom SG with ebony board and can't really justify having both.
I got a good deal barely second hand but am not sure if I can even get what I paid these days.

Some good points there Harold. I guess in time Bacchus will eventually get their name out there as a good guitar for the money. I might pick another solid FM top in a couple of months

I have been playing it head to head against my ObG the past couple of weeks, it's quite a good guitar but the ObG has that nice broke in feeling to it....I'll have to play the livin'-be-jesus out of it to get that feeling

That is the only thing about my flame-top I don't like, it is too shiny. Hopefully a few years will take care of that. Bacchus also sells relic versions and they are nice. Not overdone like the Gibsons IMO.

Here is one relic version going for the same price as the regular flametops:

If I was looking this would be a decent deal for an SG with p-90s.

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Bacchus/Momose/Deviser Theory, Photo & ID Thread

I would be interested to know what the fret size is like on the newer Classic line of BLP models; my guess is a larger type fret v. an older/smaller/vintage size fret .......

anyone?

one of the attributes I prefer about the older Vintage Series BLS-120 era models is they typically have the smaller frets; the later Vintage Series BLS-59 models typically have larger frets ...............

likely a little known thing ................ but a huge difference when a player prefers one, over the other .............

I am going to say tall and fairly narrow. Not sure if this pic of the Classic LP fretboard will give you enough to compare to your BLS-59. Definitely not wide and fat.

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Bacchus/Momose/Deviser Theory, Photo & ID Thread

wulf & gammy, I suspected the Classic Series BLPs did have the taller frets; it is fairly evident from the few close shots I have seen from several of the Classic Series listings

thanks for confirming my suspicions

as a curiosity; my BLS-59 flame top is the only Bacchus BLS-59 that I have had in my hands that has the smaller/shorter vintage style frets.
possibly because it was a custom order?
all of my production BLS-59s have the taller frets.
This is yet another detail item that sets the flame top apart from the others.

also, all of my BSL-59 era Bacchus Gibson style guitars have had the taller frets ............
