Burny Black Custom

Hey guys,

I won an auction for a early to mid eighties Burny Black Custom. It has the 2 hole truss rod cover and correct gibson style custom headstock inlay. The funny thing is Ebay pulled the auction right after I won and the seller says it told him it was a tradmark violation. I do recall the title had "les paul clone" in it. Would this be considered a trademark violation? It was listed and clearly stated that it was a made in Japan Burny though. He seems to be respectable and owns a nice music store. So I can still get it for 620 shipped with hard case. What you guys think??

I don't believe PayPal will offer any sort of recourse or buyer protection unless the transactions actually goes through eBay.

If you do follow through with this transaction, I suggest using a credit card that will offer some protection.

Owns a store? At least it's not Joe Blow from Kokomo. (sorry Joe, no offense)

How's his fleabay rating? Did you research him, or the store at all? You know, try a bunch of googles on 'em.

Maybe you could ask different forums if anyone's dealt with him.

Good luck! Sound's like a great Burny!

Yeah he had great feedback. Manchester Music Mill is the store's website. He seems real respectable. I guess with all these fake Les Pauls from china Ebay is keeping an eye on copys. I'm gonna go ahead and phone the payment in to him. Can't wait supposed to have long tennon and she has fret edge binding to boot. It has the correct bell truss rod cover too. Can't wait to rock it thru my jcm 800 woo hooo!!!

Re: Burny Black Custom

Well it came in today. Pretty effin sweet. Weighs a ton. Nice buckle rash on the back. Pretty fret edge binding. Plays like butta. Gold starting to fade but hey it's over 20 years old. Appears to be solid. Except some dumb #ss drilled a couple holes in the top between the bridge and tailpiece for god knows what (it was disclosed in the auction). Any advice on filling and touching up the finish?? When I restring it i'll check under the hood so to speak to see if it's a long tenon and figure out what top it has maple or mahogany. Soon as I figure out how to post pics I will. Any help???

I think I saw that one on auction somewhere (uk ebay?) My guess it had a Bigsby at one time. Or maybe a acoustic p-up, maybe? It looked REAL good as I recall. We're waiting on those pics!

I think if you put [ img ] (no spaces, tho), then the url where your pic can be found (photobucket, imageshack, flickr, etc) then follow with another [img], when you post, it pulls in the pic. Don't make 'em too large, out of consideration for our dialup brothers and sisters!

Re: Burny Black Custom

Mr Punk good to hear your news. I did try to reply to your PM but it said I couldn't?????? Strange that you got a heavy one, the majority of mine from this era are mid weight to light, it's the later ones with the ammended inlay that are the heavy ones in my collection. Don't think any of mine have a long tenon but I'm not too bothered about that.

Re: Burny Black Custom

Pics!!! And good lord man this eats my epiphone standard for breakfast. The epi is no slouch eithor. It has gibson/semour pickups and tonepros tuners. This Burny sounds so fat and yet so sweet with a nice amount of sparkle on the top end. No mods needed..

I have one just like that. Great guitars and excellent bang-for-your-buck. Congrats!

Here's a pic of mine...
