Burny Custom Good Buy?

Hey fellas. I FINALLY got through with the nightmare of my last purchase (Burny Custom arrived with a broken neck). With my reimbursement check on the way, I've been shopping and think I found a GREAT deal. By far my favorite finish (save for silverburst) a true gem in Tobacco Sunburst finish! Just to make sure I'm not gassing here, would you guys give me your thoughts? I think I'm about to buy Burny #2 (the one on the right).

Japan Vintage Guitars - Burny Guitars

now price shouldn't be named here, but I will say this...Burny #1 (the one on the left) is $100 more. the differences are that #1 is supposedly in better condition, 3-piece body, and has frets redressed (worries me...does that effect re-sale value?). Burny #2 has a bit of buckle rash, and a chip near the back strap pin, and is a 2-piece body. either way, they look like a good buy. think I'll do alright with #2? sorry, guys, i'm too excited. let me know what you think. cheers!

Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

I would choose the #2 for the back, nicer and 2 pieces body.
Ask about weight and closer shot of fret condition also.

Re: Burny Custom Good Buy?

That Japan Vintage guy was probably the first person on ebay to see the value of MIJ guitars. His prices are inflated. But he always gets and sells good ones. He's been at it for a long time now. If you don't mind paying more than you should, go for it.

But the prices on these two aren't too bad. Nice tri-burst Customs! And they both have "correct looking" headstock inlays! #2 is the best value item.

Re: Burny Custom Good Buy?

Are these supposed to be early 1980ties? If so it is almost certainly a flame maple laminate over a carved maple top.

I'd get the one with the fret dress. One of the main disadvantages of these great old MIJ LPs is that they were actually played - a lot. Most have considerable fretwear.

A fret dressing (as opposed to a refret) shouldn't do anything to your resell value.

We're wait'n for them pics!

I think you got the best deal, if it needs a fret-dress, you'll be into it for about the same as #1, but you got the one with a 2 piece body!

Congrats!

hey, quit bitin' yer nails, it'll get there ok. that guy has sold probably thousands of guitars.
