Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
why do Burny LP Customs seem to be cheaper than Burny LP Standards?
Sorry if this question gets asked a lot. |

Maybe because there seems to be a shit load of customs around compared to standards?

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
I think it is due to them being more readily available vs. the 50 plain tops and higher 90+ models.
You see them for sale all the time |

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
Yeah, that's a pretty good relicing job!
My best guess is a 150, based on the more outrageous tops on the 240s. Late 1980/early 1981. Shame there's no cavity shots. |

Even the mid/late 90s models, like this one, had uncovered double blacks. So changed pups, which is likely for the knobs were changed too. |

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
Really..not too sure, every 150 I have seen seems to have a Chevron pattern to it
The top on that one is very curly and 59-ish in looks. I would side with it being a 240 but 240's were custom made so perhaps the buyer chose that top? |

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
Maybe, but the reverse chevron is more of a 1980 thing. If it's a 81, which is very likely without the SN, then a 150 is more likely.

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
What are you basing it on being a 150 over a 240, exactly?
The amount of flames or flame maple type and that is it or? |

Re: The Unofficial Official Anything Burny Theory, Photo, & ID Related Thread
Oh ok.
When you set aside the nowadays very much appreciated reliced look, there's a nice curly maple top indeed. But it's not as strong and symmetrical as you see on the top models from that era. The Japanese seemed (and still seem) to like that particulary. Just take a look at Tokai's for comparison. |
