Re: Greco !" MIJ" Bargain of the day!
There's a mistery "D" at the end of the fretboard, where the zreborn had their serie number. But 57 paf and veneer would indicate an ls80.

That sucks however as it raises the price vs keeping it static if another KON bidder is bidding.

Re: Greco !" MIJ" Bargain of the day!
how often do vintage LS-150 models show up, for sale?
I don't know but from what I have seen they likely do not show up often. vintage LS-80s on the other hand are basically a dime a dozen. this LS-150 had 171 bids, from 13 different bidders so, there obviously must be a market for these vintage LS-150s. looks like a market driven issue to my eyes. I recall when Ed bought his LS-200 in January, 2010, the ending bid was over $6K, and some were saying that price was nuts. The higher end vintage LS models are finally getting the recognition that the market allows, and I'm not talking LS-80s. I also recall during the 1980s when '58, '59, and '60 Les Pauls were going for $3K to $6K, depending on condition, and many were saying then that was nuts. Where are those people now? Wishing they would have bought a few

Re: Greco !" MIJ" Bargain of the day!
i don't really think you can compare inflation rates on '58-'60 bursts and Tokais.
different kettles of fish with vastly different heritages and markets. i think 6k for an LS-200 is nuts and he will more than likely lose money on it when he cones to sell it... but then he probably justified the purchase and just wanted the guitar, which is as good a reason as any to buy at whatever price he likes.

Re: Greco !" MIJ" Bargain of the day!
Andy, I'm not concerned with inflation rates & that isn't a consideration on my part.
the guitars are obviously going up in price because there is a market for them, all be it a small market but that market is there, none the less; it aint because of inflation ......... 'supply & demand' in this equation has nothing whatsoever to do with inflation one man's "nuts" is another man's sanity ...........

Re: Greco !" MIJ" Bargain of the day!
The thinking in Japan might be that these LS-150 + 200 models are rarer and in some ways, better than Historics,
which often go for between $4-5k there. Many R-9 Historics don't have the same quality of top figuring this particular LS-150 has. Too much money chasing too few vintage MIJ top examples, I think. There have been a few crazy bidding wars on OBG's and EGF-1800's also. Are you thinking about listing your LS-150 on YJ about now, Wulfman ?
