My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
Well, I did it again. Another guitar is on the way from Japan. This time it's a 2003 Tokai LS75Q MIJ. Got it off eBay $580 + $95 shipping. Mint condition 'cept for the middle position on the switch. Seller said it's a cherry sunburst, but it looks like the violin finish to me. Here's some pics from the seller...

Re: My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
You will love it.
Let me tell you a brief story. At the Nashville guitar show last February, a couple of guys had a dealer walk a Tokai exactly like yours over to me. They all know I'm a Tokai whore. Anyway, I asked the dealer what he needed and he explained that it was "lawsuit" guitar from 1976. He finally told me he needed $1200 for it. I didn't waste my time to educate him but I did say "$600 cash or walk". He walked! ![]() I enjoyed it. Again, these are really great bang for buck guitars.

Re: My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
Congrats for your purchase.
You got a good price. Itīs VF=Violin Finish, I donīt know wichi Gibson equivalent finish is(iced tea?). I really love this colour, just after old OS=Old Sunburst, not avalaible at this time. There are severall small differences regarding Tokais and vintages Les Pauls,as there are between regular production and "special" models Tokais, not all are exactly equal.....I would never be able to pass a Tokai(which are 50īs replicas) as a 70īs Norlin Gibson,in fact Tokai never replicated those(and as smart as they are I see no reason to) instead of Greco having severl 70īs copy cats EG models. |

Re: My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
Nice fiddle.
I just entered the Tokai world myself. I bought this yesterday for $450 with a case and SD Pearly Gates in the neck and SD 59 in the bridge. It's a 2000 LS60. It had a fried tone pot that I fixed last night. I put some Historic rings and switchplate washer on it, an added straplocks. It's right around 9 lbs. Compared to my 2 other Gibsons, it sounds almost as good as my '03 Historic and better than my '95 Studio. And I haven't even tried any NOS caps in her yet. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
Don't want to hijack the thread, but thanks.
I found this on my local Craig's list. It was described as a 1980 model and the asking price was $800. I contacted the seller immediately and started doing some Tokai research. The first time I checked it out I got caught in traffic and only had about 5 minutes to inspect it before the guy had to go to band practice. Then, after a few more E-mails, he was convinced (and disappoonted) that it was a 2000 model and was worth considerably less. I threw out an offer of $450 before I went to see it again. He was hoping to get $550, and asked if I could do $500. I said I needed some time with it and met him and spent a good hour checking it out and chatting with the guy. I was fully prepared to give him the $500, but made him the $450 offer anyway, since these are hard times to sell stuff and great times to buy. "I have the cash right here," I said. He thought for awhile and then said OK. $core! |

Re: My newest guitar - Tokai LS75Q
SCOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRE!
<couch on it's back, legs kicking air!> and I think things may get a little better in the "ability to make a good deal" department the way things are going. I'm hearing some hobbies are getting real tough, in particular the ones that require travel. so says the stock car-oval track racer I work with... |
